So it appears an agreement has been made and both sides are working together again. @Knave you can step away from the ledge now. http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article130764399.html
Sacramento Republic FC will be the future of MLS for Sacramento as we stand before MLS as one team and community:Quote from club: pic.twitter.com/FaPgZmEXVA— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) February 4, 2017
An agreement in principle is not a yet a signed deal. And who knows what damage has been done to the bid in MLS's eyes. I'm staying on the ledge.
I'm staying on the ledge until SRFC is in MLS. My confidence in this bid is shattered. Rational or not, I've gone full doom.
You're leaving me all alone as the voice of reason?!?! Over a Twitter war?!?!! You barely know what social media is
At this point I'd rather not hope than have my hopes crushed. Also, I blame Meg Whitman. Everything went to hell as soon as she joined in.
Beckham is making a play. Sounds like he is going to give up control to investors (saw the writing on the wall-that he wasn't getting investors any other way). If MLS lets him play in a temp facility, Sac is stuck at 2020. I hope they don't, but they let Orlando, Minny and ATL do it. And it may take them more than a few years to get their stadium built anyway, even when they get control of the land. The rezonoing, EIR, entitlement process will be a son-of-a-bitch.
Like Jed York, I'll take Whitman's money and contacts. Just glad neither will be running the team. It is Nagle's baby
As mentioned before, MLS was pretty much expecting to receive the bid without SRFC. http://www.indomitablecitysoccer.co...le-partnership-warren-smith-darrell-steinberg I don't think this will be a huge deciding factor; would MLS eliminate a bid had an ownership group in say St. Louis or Miami done the same thing? I don't think so since they are enfatuated with having a team in those cities.
not sure if you peeps heard the news, but St. Louis Board of Aldermen approve a MLS stadium financing bill
Last I heard they approved it to go on the ballot for voters to decide. What's the source on this story?
They must also submit it to the courts for a judge to allow it to be put on the April ballot because it is past the filing deadline. Not that I expect that to be much of a problem.
Since you're gonna be emo for a while, may I recommend a pomegranate cider courtesy of Two Rivers*. It's quite tart, much like your current mood. * Based in Sac, natch ...
everyone wants to talk about tomatoes here in Sac-Town - what about the fun times in the American River?
