Or.... From what I here, Graham Smith may be out...I think Buckle has been fine. Players at his disposal just didn't finish chances this year https://t.co/mzW2Erm4nH— Evan Ream (@EvanReam) October 29, 2017 jumping ship
Looks like Nashville's got their stadium plan sorted out too http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-...ets-boost-from-initial-$275m-stadium-approval
If I had to rank, it would have been: Detroit #1 (if they'd kept their old plan, and it came to fruition) Sac #2 Nash or Cincy #3. And that was assuming Detroit would be ready to go for 2020, which was a long shot (unless they played in a temp facility). With Detroit now likely out (or delayed pending MLS evaluation of their new Ford Field plan), Sac is firmly #1. Nash and Cincy are duking it out for that second spot. With the uncertainty in Columbus, I would be shocked if they selected Cincy
Given the whole Columbus vs Austin vs San Antonio situation and the lawsuits likely to be filed....I wouldn't be surprised if MLS announces in December that they willl postpone the expansion announcement until spring. I know that might interfere with the plans to begin playing in 2020, but I think San Antonio has a good shot at winning millions of MLS's dollars in a lawsuit. I'd wager (with mangerson's money, lol) they try to resolve that situation before "locking in" on the expansion choices.
hmm... I'm not very familiar with American reporters, does he really have any inside information? MLS owners are set to pick the next 2 expansion teams.@GrantWahl tells us which cities are the favorites. https://t.co/ghpFL1RJeu— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) November 13, 2017
He writes for SI, so I'm sure he knows a few insiders. And what he's saying isn't rocket science. Sac, Cincy and Nashville are the most complete bids. The only darkhorse is Detroit. No one else is even close.
I'm gonna put this here: Unrelated to the NASL/USSF issues, I think I've figured out the reason for the continued delays on the #Miami/#MLS announcement. Come gather 'round...(1)— Miki Turner (@turneresq) November 14, 2017 Read the thread.
BREAKING: Court has denied Bruce Matheson's motion for a rehearing, has entered final orders and closed case. Appeal clock starts ticking today. #MLS #Miami #Beckham pic.twitter.com/dPj7257l3w— Miki Turner (@turneresq) November 15, 2017
got this tidbit from Carmichael Dave: Get ready to celebrate 12/16. Also, working on something right now in regards to that, but hushy hushy https://t.co/4e5teoTmac— Carmichael Dave (@CarmichaelDave) November 27, 2017 after what happened to San Antonio, not sure what to believe any more
Copy that. SA is getting done dirty by the Crew-ATX situation. If that happens, then Cincinnati goes right up to #1, with Nashville and Detroit duking it out for #2. ...but there's always Sacramento to fall back in, in case those other bids fail. Feh.
Note: for the next 4-6 weeks I will be in full on lockdown MLS mode. I’m only saying this because any cryptic tweets or smileys will be exclusively MLS and not Kings related. It’s go time. Carry on. Love you— Carmichael Dave (@CarmichaelDave) November 29, 2017 Meanwhile, I'm headed out of the country for when the announcement probably happens (which I think it will for Sacramento) https://t.co/cbxZSOJtfI— Evan Ream (@EvanReam) November 29, 2017
the league has revealed four finalists for the first two expansion spots, which will be announced before the end of the year: Cincinnati Detroit Nashville Sacramento The finalists will make presentations to the league's Expansion Committee and Commissioner Don Garber on Dec. 6, and the MLS Board of Governors meeting on Dec. 14 will include additional discussions on expansion with ownership representatives from every team.
Cincinnati's not as stadium ready as they want people and MLS to believe https://www.cincinnati.com/story/ne...st-honest-public-its-stadium-plans/899626001/
I just don't see Cincy in the first round. They the smallest market - and they're not growing, either. MLS isn't interested in 2017 - they're interested in 2037. And sports leagues in this country have made an art of playing municipalities off one another. At this stage, Cincinnati is a great "last choice". Why burn that this year when, if you leave them hanging until next year, they are great leverage against the other remaining 7 markets for the next two spots. As to Columbus, I think that makes Cincinnati even less likely this year. I think both Cincinnati and San Antonio are kinda boned by the Columbus/Austin shenanigans going on right now.
You need to stop posting in the Expansion forum thread. There's a certain fan who is not prepared to deal with facts on the issue, and also tries to hi-jack most non-Cincy related comments into comparing them to Cincy.
Sigh.....I know, I know Apparently, I'm completely uninformed and Cincy is The. Best. City. Ever. I'm surprised they're not getting two teams.
I already told him I feel bad because they're probably not going to get it this time. It's going to be an agonizing year or more for him if Cincy isn't one of the teams announced.
