Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Chimay is not my favourite, I prefer Orval, Hopus and Barbar Maybe this time you'll enjoy watchin Anderlecht on Champions League
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Since we have a combination of football and food: Belgium can be a good or bad place for your players and NT. I've lived at the Belgian border for ten years, and am quite familiar with every classic cooking style; Belgian food is just world class, but full of fat and carbons; and their interesting beer... You should usually expect a guy with some money moving to Belgium to put on 10 kg in his first year. I'd leave 100€ at a restaurant every night.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Speaking for myself, many of our players have a difficult time going to certain nations with non-EU roster limits or work permits, and from what little I know about the Belgian league these restrictions are not as bad there. This is all from my many years of playing football manager of course On there Americans can get EU citizenship in 3 years time, which opens their possibilities to play in just about every league in Europe, which clears up my first point. What are the rules for signing non-EU players? They seem fairly loose. Is the law really that you only have to live 3 years in Belgium to apply for citizenship?
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? I was going to ask you guys if you knew of any in Belgium that might qualify to play for the USA! Its a sore subject that position, one we have struggled to develop much quality at.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? For citizenship I think it's three years yes. No work permits needed.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Or play for the local national team. Onyewu's former Standard Liege team mate Igor de Camargo, who just transfered to Bradley's Gladbach, is a native Brazilian who plays for Belgium now.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? You mean a player that we don't want to see anymore ? We have some We have a leg breaker if needed.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? He doesn't even need to play for us, just send him to the hotel England is staying at in SA the day before the match and we'll be grateful for his leg breaking services
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Have you ever seen that leg break from Witsel (Standard Liège) against Wasilewski (RSC Anderlecht) ? Wasil just came back from 7 months of rehab. [Note from squeamish mod: you may not want to watch if you're squeamish.] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WnLwuZGGdQ"]YouTube- Anderlecht-Standard Axel Witsel and Wasilewski[/ame]
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? ohhhh shit yeah i remember that. ok so how much does he cost? $1,000 per leg? just kidding but seriously that is such a gruesome break. the Belgian league doesn't ******** around.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Hence the disclaimer I added immediately after watching the video. Now I've got to get that image out of my head. NB: I'm fully aware that I'm wussier than most.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? [the Belgian league doesn't ******** around.] What ? (Thanks to the moderator, I wanted to write it but can't remember the right word "squeamish")
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Its a compliment, sort of means that the Belgian league is the equivalent to "badass". Know what I mean?
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? I don't really know the history of Americans playing in Belgium aside from a little bit about Oguchi Onyewu's time at Standard Liège. Anyways, a while back, Israeli national team players were flocking to Belgium and some were doing quite well. Unfortunately, they were all disappointed that they were performing well and no offers were coming in from bigger leagues. Aside from free transfers, it is easy to get in to the Belgian league and really tough to get out to a bigger league and the Belgian clubs demand hefty transfer fees. This is my only impression of the Belgian league.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? I think there's like a $100K minimum wage requirement. No WP's, no limits otherwise. And from what I remember, a player (Andres Mendoza) can unilaterally break up a contract if he agrees to a certain notifications and compensation guidelines (sort of like the Webster Rule).
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? It's becoming difficult to name a national team that doesn't have a native Brazilian these days.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? I would also like to see more players going. Younger players to be precise. If I am not mistaken, it takes three years to be eligible for Belgian citzenship. With that, it removes limits on where yanks can to go.
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? There is one who's not belgian but played in Belgium from 2000 to 2008 (last club: Bruges, the 2nd biggest club of our country): Salou. About Kljestan, I just heard it could be official tomorrow (I mean "in some hours"....it's 1AM here).
Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht? Where have you heard/read this ? Edit : nevermind, I just read your post on the official forum.
