It's still not clear to me what and how they plan to control. So far it's just media noize... but let's hope for the best. Check regularly Booking, Airbnb, FIFA Hotels, some reasonable offers can be found from time to time. Those guys made my day: https://www.booking.com/hotel/ru/kiempingh-dlia-palatok-kalininghrad.en-us.html?aid=918725 I have nothing against camping idea, but seriously... such trash place with fake photos?
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/russia-names-and-shames-hotels-jacking-up-prices-for-world-cup Blaming technical malfunctions
https://sputniknews.com/worldcup-20...5880-russia-hotel-price-regulation-world-cup/ "…A fine on a legal body amounts to double the amount of excessively received proceeds from the sale of goods (work, services)… for the entire period during which the offense was committed," said the agency in the statement.
I love the 'administrator' who says they have not received that sort of Money!! Of course not nobody is as stupid as the people who set these prices. I have never known so much nativity it is almost as if they think football fans are from a different planet and money is no object.
yeah. they must think they are charging FIFA, is not just a Russian thing clearly as it happened in Brazil too. It comes down to naiveté and ignorance about the world and capitalism simply because people don't go other places and travel. You just figure if people as spending thousands of dollars in tickets (they are not, as tickets are relatively average cost compare to other events) and you add airfare (not thousands just 1 or 2) what makes people think someone is going to pay the equivalent of a down payment of a house to stay in your tiny apartment or 1* hotel? makes no sense.
Booking.com are a disgrace and don’t give a shit - they openly continue to allow hotels to cancel on you and then re-advertise at 10x price (this happened to me on the Hostel I booked in Moscow for 16th-20th.
Totally unrelated... Wasn't there someone here traveling with a large group people? like 10 people from the states?
I can well understand. Everyone is in the same boat so there is no way that Moscow is 99% reserved especially as fans come and go they don't just stay in the same city for 4 weeks. Just keep checking the normal sites. I have noticed a few weakening and that were just on FIFA but now also on Booking.com so hopefully this is a trend and they realize their utter greed is misplaced.
Good luck to everyone. I would suggest everyone to use personal contacts in Russia and get a cheap room in the suburbs.
As it will be free to travel on the trains, would it be possible to stay somewhere really nice away from Moscow then travel in for the games? If there is anyone from Moscow reading this where would be close enough outside Mosow to travel from? Thanks
I'm going to book a great hotel in another city for a fraction of the price I'm being asked for a sh it hole in Moscow. Travel in for the games and maybe book 1 or 2 nights in Moscow for when I arrive/leave. I did this for the Euros in Austria, stayed in the country next door and travelled an hour by train to get to Vienna. I'm fecked if I am going to let these rats rip me off for 10/20 x times the real cost. They don't want my custom fine I'll go elsewhere.
Ok, just be aware that the free trains in game days for Moscow are only the suburban trains arround the city. For the intercity free trains, 95% of those going to moscow only departure from SPB
Thanks but what I thought was they would depart from where ever and then make stops on the way. Surely they wont think everyone going to the final is leaving from SPB.
Thanks Licho, I have emailed them to find out if the trains will be stopping and if I can book from there rather than where the train originates. I'll let you know the reply. Edit: Just checked the price and it's only about £40 return so not too bothered.
As per: https://tickets.transport2018.com/page/faq Do additional trains stop at any stations en route? Additional trains travel from the point of departure to the point of destination, with stops en route as described in the schedule of such additional trains. So I guess you are right, but then you should find out where they stop (https://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en) and I guess you would need to book it from the origin city anyways
