Is Russell still on loan or has Bochum purchased him? Also he seemed to play over the back line and midfield last year, what's his best position and is he playing there? I love this guy's character and really want him to break through and be a regular starter this year. What's the chance of that happening?

No idea how credible this journalist is, but he's claiming that Canouse is heading back to the US.

I'm a little confused. He's on loan from Hoffenheim, so say Bochum were to terminate the loan, he would return back to Hoffenheim. But, this guy is saying he is leaving Bochum straight to the US. Was he bought by Bochum? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

I would assume that Bochum and Hoffenheim would come to an agreement about terminating the loan and then Hoffenheim would either sell Canouse or let him go on a free.

When I looked it up, I was surprised to see he only earned 903 minutes last season with Bochum over 20 appearances (8 starts) - all in the league and no minutes in the German Cup. I thought he played more than that. I also recall several of his minutes were out of position at right back to cover for the starter who was injured.

Before that, he had one appearance with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga for 23 minutes. I can see wanting to do something different.

Said it elsewhere, but I'd watch a midfield of Harkes, Arriola, Canouse, and Stieber. Hopefully Durkin plays next year. DCU's defense is still terrible and it needs another forward although its interesting they bought Bruno Miranda who is already playing for Boliva at age 19.

DCU has been unwatchable all season and really had no one with long-term promise other than Harkes. They're still not good, but at least they're interesting now with more youth. If they play their hand right and address their weaknesses, maybe they'll have a shot at the postseason next year.

You think Olsen is actually going to play him consistently? Or give Durkin a shot next season? I doubt it. Olsen would rather play some hack journeyman than give some youngsters a go when they're not really playing for anything this season.

They've been great to watch if you've been betting against them :)

I think Olsen will give Canouse an honest shot to win the d-mid job. But like anything, it'll be up to Canouse to make the most of it and earn the starting gig.
