In a preview for their first Eredivisie site this site/blog says he's training again "Rubio Rubin raakte in het oefenduel tegen Dundee United geblesseerd, maar dit lijkt mee te vallen. Inmiddels traint de jonge Amerikaanse spits alweer mee." http://www.fcutrecht.net/nieuws/mediafiles/4958
Yes he is definitely training again. He got a mild concussion en they put his nose back in place. A buddy of mine told me that today he was training without any problem
2-0 loss to start the season. Looks like they could use a couple of Americans in their attack. I might be biased.
Utrecht has a lot of injuries, but this is saying that Rubin should be available (if he's selected) this weekend http://www.soccernews.nl/news/26864...esseerd_bij_FC_Utrecht:_Dit_is_onvoorstelbaar
This is saying he is going to start (I think) vs. Willem FC Utrecht Updates @voetbal030 7h FC Utrecht: Rubio Rubin start in de basis tegen Willem II http://bit.ly/1t24KnE
Wow....If true. The hype train will be strong with this one. Count me on board already. First team though right?
I would assume first team since their reserves dont play Willem and they dont play on Sunday. The article also references how Utrecht has 5 other offensive players injured which is in reference to the first team.
I think that probably means he starts in the squad, not the starting 11. Not sure though, shitty Google trans.
I would expect so, considering most coaches don't announce their XI this far in advance. Regardless, it's still a big step forward this early in his time at Utrecht.
Good thing I said "I think"! Either way it sounds like he's got a good shot in being in the 18 at least which is good news. Whether he starts or not will probably be decided amongst coaches tomorrow or something.
An 18 year old making the bench in the Eredivisie is impressive, regardless. Hopefully he can snag a few goals (3 or 4) this season for the first team.
This could be a great year for young Americans. Could see an unprecedented number of kids making noise in the first teams for solid clubs.
The past year or so has made me cautious about being optimistic about young Americans performing in Europe.
I think its made most of us cautious. This year looks like it could see a bit of an upswing with Hyndman firmly in the plans for Fulham this year as well as Rubin, Stanko and Packwood all likely to see solid minutes. Theres others on the periphery that could make noise too.
"In de basis" means he's starting and yes, in the first 11 (due to injuries). Former Ajax academy players Ayoub (one to look out for) and Kali will also play from the start. Barazite will probably be his strike-partner upfront or from the flanks.
I wonder what derailed Agudelo (21) with Utrecht. Rubin(18) is a good prospect but is he already better than Agudelo?
Well, I doubt they are tanking this early. But seriously, it's possibly a value for money situation. Juan needs his LV luggage to stay fresh, and that ain't cheap.
