This tidbit from the New York Times (thanks to Jim's news roundup): "RUBEN DIAZ, a legal resident of the United States since 1992 and a defender for the Peruvian club Estudiantes de Medicina in Ica (about five hours south of Lima), has been called up by his Army Reserve unit in New Jersey for possible duty in the Middle East, according to Futbol Sudamericano, a daily Web-based newsletter."
