It is good to see that Indra had a goal. I hope that he will be another good addition for us.

I wonder if RSL will look at the FIU dude who scored for Real. ;)

Our new secret strategy for 2008: our opponent uses our backup keepers.

Good article. I think I've criticized Edwards (and others who've written articles about RSL in the past). I'm regretting that now.

On a side note: Do we have room on the senior roster for someone who is starting to realize that his job is to raise the level of the young players in practice and during reserve matches? As much as I like everything else that I've heard about Cutler, I'm not sure his skill level justifies a spot.

It's amazing that Williams, Besagno, and Cutler are the only 3 people on the 2005 roster still on the team... that's a lot of turnover.

The most amazing part is Cutler is still here. Besagno too, but you've still got to give him a chance since he's been hurt. I think Williams deserves to be here.

I don't think they've been paying Cutler much to stick around.

Every team needs a cheap back up or two.

(not a typo  The only thing that matters = no major injuries)

EDIT: FYI...official RSL Communications match report now re-posted in full here

Does anyone else find it very interesting that they are playing Sturgis at A-mid?

    Musings...
It's interesting that they played Sturgis in the creative midfield role. Huh.....

Looks like Joy nad Wingert in the back left, but only Beltran on the right. I wonder what will happen with that right back position.

I kind of forgot about Kirby for center back. We have Mantilla, Borchers, Kirby, Horst, Olave, and Kotschau which make 6. Where's Ritchie in this game?

Also, Indra only got a 30 minute look. Hmmmm....

And don't forgot there is still Nik B. floating out there. Didn't they want to play him at center back as well?

it kind of puts a damper on some of the pre-season optimism... Guess the more realistic test will be this week against Colorado.

Not really? I think having a coach play centerback is more interesting. This is the time of year to experiment with players in different roles. This is phase 2 of preseason. I would expect that phase 3 (Argentina) will be playing people in their usual positions more, and will be about focusing more directly on the upcoming season rather than just evaluating players and getting everyone in proper physical condition.

Wow. I expected to come here this morning and find the fanbase in full-on meltdown mode. Maybe there is hope for us.
Nik is hurt (recovering from knee surgery) and will be out at least a few more weeks.

Has there been an update? My understanding was that he was supposed to be back in action at least by the time they hit Rosario.

Not really. If it is anything like last year's game it will be weak with no substance.

Good point. I guess we might start to see a more consistent line up in Argentina. Too bad there won't be anyone down there to let us know how things are going...

I will sacrifice and go down there, if you will help pay for it. :)
