I questioned the Empire of Soccer guys, who broke the 200k transfer fee. They have yet to respond. I am calling crap on that number. It was probably a deal where RB agreed to ship him for free, RSL agreed to pay his existing salary. Done deal.
Yeah, that report isn't clear at all. I read it as Red Bull initially wanting $300k allocation for Meara on loan with a buyout clause, but then NYCFC inexplicably throwing in Zizzo permanently and agreeing to no buyout. In either case, it doesn't pass the smell test, and it also doesn't match MLS' Trade Tracker, which shows Zizzo permanently for Meara on loan, with no mention of allocation. All of this is to say that I'm much less concerned about that Olave report than I was 24 hours ago.
or 3) garberbucks have the shelf life of a bowl of curry goat near 'Boma after he's been on a diet for two weeks and just finished a ten mile run...
Has anyone looked at who is available in the Re-entry draft? Once they pass the first round, do they automatically proceed to the second round or can offers and negotiations take place between round one and two? Mauro Rosales is in there. I would never want to see us pay $450K for his contract, but it would be interesting to see him and Javi playing together. Marvell Wynne is available too. He's another defender with crazy recovery speed, although it seems we don't need a center back at the moment. Edit: Added link
Rosales would be interesting, but how would he do on the side of the diamond? I also wouldn't want him at that pay.
Here is the info about the re-entry draft from MLSsoccer.com. I also highlighted and underlined a couple players I thought might be interesting pick-ups. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ist-eligible-players-phase-one-re-entry-draft NEW YORK – Major League Soccer unveiled the list of 62 players eligible for selection in the 2014 MLS Re-Entry Process on Thursday. The first stage of the Re-Entry Process – when clubs can claim players by exercising their current options or extending them a bona fide offer as stipulated by the CBA – will take place on Friday at 3 pm ET. The results of the draft will be published on MLSsoccer.com. Players that go unselected in the first stage will then be available for the second stage, held on Dec. 18. According to league rules, teams will have seven days to make a bona fide offer to the players they select in Stage 2 and if an agreement can't be reached, the club will hold the right of first refusal for that player in MLS. Any players not picked up after Stage 2 become available to any MLS club on a first-come, first-served basis. 2014 Re-Entry Process - Draft Selection Order 1. Montreal Impact 2. I like the ones you've highlighted Goo (McKenzie, Chavez, Benitez)...Moffat and Al-Hassan are also interesting to me if ... the price is right. Wynne will be gone quickly IMO, even at his Olave-level price. If he were here we'd probably have to listen to Dunseth say "probably the fastest Centerback pairing in Major League Soccer" every game.
That's because he has to say something and their speed and strength would greatly limit the opposition's quantity of "snap-headers".
^^^ Just think of the additional beer expenses that would go with the expanded "drinking with Dunny" Never mind the team, I'm not sure fans could afford it. I could see Benitez working, and although it's not a need I still wouldn't mind Wynne. Although I think it's a perfectly rational choice, I can't get excited about McKenzie.
I somewhat like McKenzie as a backup. I thought before he left us he was starting to look a little better. Not starter quality, but someone you could throw into the USOC or occasional game and not have a massive drop off.
@RSLEast it looks like the list @goobx1 posted has Rosales as opted out, so he won't be available for the re-entry draft.
Thanks. I saw that, and it was nice to have it all posted here. My bad. The list from MLSsoccer is updated, while the SBI list was not. Does opting out mean that you aren't planning to play for MLS next year? Perhaps he's taking a deal with his old team? I also found this: For several days after Stage 1, clubs may sign their own players to new contracts or sign and trade a player to a new club (provided the old club, new club, and player agree to the new terms). A blackout period then begins before Stage 2 takes place one week following Stage 1. I imagine that many of the better players (the ones we might care about) would likely follow that route. Add to that the fact that we would have the 13th pick and I suppose there isn't likely to be any blockbuster deals on the table.

That could work for Robbie - he could get into space and lanes created by DeFoe (if he stays) and Bradley and co. That's a pretty fast moving offense. I think it could click for him (hope it does).
Does that mean we're looking for a forward now, or with the addition of Jaime are we covered? It would be hilarious if they opted to bring Atiba back. Then we'd have both verbs back in town. Ask Real Madrid, people were getting Atiba-ed years before they were getting Olave-d. Not really suggesting this, just saw his name on the re-entry draft list and started waxing nostalgic.
I want to see it just to see phills complain about how we got rid of 'good forwards' after complaining all year that we had him and he was worthless.
With Robbie and Benji leaving, RSL will at least go for a forward in the draft. Sabo, Plata, Jaime and Garcia are a pretty good forward group.
The one I was a bit surprised about them dropping was Benji. As a homegrown, he would've been protected automatically and has salary cap benefits too. I know he's had some injury issues that slowed him down, but I figured they'd have kept him for the Monarchs. Guess I was wrong...
Considering we have a positive record with him, especially when he scores, what is the problem with him exactly?
have you ever played professional football? Because Sabo has AT THE ********ING WORLD CUP seriously, dude, let your shit with Sabo go. You don't like him, fine. But to come in here and call him a donkey is like me going to the LA board and being like "that Robbie Keane sucks ass at soccer, man" It's so bloody irrational to say that Sabo isn't good. He is good. You'll even admit it, but like all other Sabo haters you quickly pull it back. It always goes like this: Hater - that Sabo guy sucks Person with brain - for sucking so much he sure scores a lot Hater - they're all garbage goals Person with brain - if they're all garbage goals why don't more players get them? Hater - because he is lazy and stands in the middle asking for the ball Person with brain - He's a number 9, you wan't him running around like crazy? Hater - well, no, but he shoudl at least try Person with brain - he does - you don't score goals without effort in this league Hater - yeah... well he also just only takes pk's! Person with brain - .... wow I just can't get over how people in this fanbase dislike the guy who scores a shit ton of our goals. The guy is a striker. 110% a proven #9 striker. He finishes. That's what he does. Y'all would rather watch Jamie Watson run his ass off and miss sitters than have Saborio. It's so weird
I'm inclined to agree but he is a known quantity. -- albeit one that gives away penalties and misses vital games through suspension. However the team as we knew it is finished, washed up and spent. Hence the departure of Borchers, Wingert and Grabavoy in particular,. You've spent too many years of your short existence with a high degree of success and you expect it to continue with the same old tired formula, it ain't possible teams pass their peak and can't be rebuilt with sticking plasters. The rebuilding will probably take a couple of years (and cost Cessar his job) and I suspect Olave is seen a two year fix while a new shape evolves/emerges
For hater read "football lover" and person with brains "football statistics fan" They Are nearly the same the FL reads the game, the FSF reads the numbers
