@ CF, yeah. Putting in Plata is a defensive liability, but probably worth it in this game. I originally just made the comment that with Toia AND Plata, our left side is weak defensively. Not that it shouldn't be done. Plata shouldn't be anywhere BUT left wing. That's his best.
Once you go Plata and Toia on that wing, and you still have a tired, old Kyle out there for cover, you're playing with fire for sure.
I didn't get to watch this because of a family party. Based solely on highlights: Quintero ALWAYS makes Rimando look stupid.
Yes and the RSL defense did their best to put Nick in terrible situations all night too. All three goals were totally defendable if not for the RSL defense making poor decisions.
Quintero's 2nd was fairly well blocked off. Het nutmegged Onuoha and barely squeezed the ball inside the post barely passed Nick's fingers. Crazy awesome strike that almost never pays off.
At the professional level, barring some just flat out amazing play (think Man City and Liverpool of late) most goals are the result of mistakes on defense being punished by a team that has put themselves in a situation to take advantage of them. This is actually one of the biggest critiques of the RSL offense. First, our attack doesn't create enough mistakes from the opposition. Second, even when it does, it is not lethal enough in taking advantage of them. Think of Kreilach missing point blank headers.
I think it's worth mentioning that Saucedo played with the Monarchs Saturday, while Arriaga was in the 18 for the first team. Not sure what to read into that, but it's possible that Saucedo has even fallen behind Luis in the pecking order.
wasn't there mention of Bofo getting married or something on these boards. Given Bofo played on Wednesday with the first team, I wouldn't read too much into it right now. If this happens again next week, something is off.
The first goal was some pretty awful defending. Toia makes a poor decision and misses the pass and then Glad "loafed" it back when if he had made a little better effort to get back and help he might have made it much more difficult for Quintero. The second goal Toia barrels into Beckerman taking out two defenders, nice job, and as noted Quintero goes through Nedums legs to beat Rimando. Third goal, was that Toia again? Findley wide open with the closest RSL representative in the supporter section. All in all not a great performance. RSL had their chances and didn't put them away and looked pretty suspect on defense which was kinda surprising for how they have been playing of late. This whole season has been the same thing, wondering each week, which team will show up to play for RSL. lf it wasn't for all of the other Western teams having tough finishing schedules I would have zero faith that RSL makes the playoffs. As it is I think that wherever they finish it will come down to what other teams do to end their seasons. Every game matters but I'm really curious to see if RSL bounces back from this game next week in NE. I have come around to believe that their actually is some pretty quality, finish top 3 or 4 in the West, talent on this team but I don't know if Freddy is going to get the most out of them to end the season. It's definitely going to be interesting to say the least.
on turf, as well. Which we should be a whole lot better on than we are now that the academy/training facility has such a nice turf field
