The only team with a better record than RSL in last 6 matches is LAFC. Can RSL go toe-to-toe with this years Supporter Shield winners? With the multi-game week, who will RSL start? Will Kellyn Rowe make his first appearance on the bench? #VamosFreddy
1) Yes. “Will they?” is a separate question. 2) Rimando Herrera Glad Onuaha Toia Beckerman Luiz Savarino Rusnak Bofo Jefferson 2) Yes.
@Ismitje I just realized that I added 1 from the Sea thread and stated this is game 25, but it's really game 26. I know we had like 3 game 22's, but I thought we'd gotten back on track. Can the thread title be updated?
I doubt we see Bofo. Something is up there - he hasn't played since the NYC game, and that was as a sub. He didn't travel to KC and seems to have lost his spot to both Baird and Plata.
FYP because I'm a pedantic engineer. I would be happy with a 1-0 RSL win, but if you're going to predict a win, why not go BIG! RSL humiliates LAFC 5-0. Goals by Sam Johnson (3), Rusnak and Savarino. 5 assists to Baird. Ejection to Bradley for being bald. After this crushing loss, LAFC goes on to still win the Supporter's Shield (barely), but they aren't as dominate and are dumped out of the playoffs (again!). Hahahaha Bradley!
LAFC has a big week ahead of them. They're playing us tomorrow, then SJ on Wednesday then they have el trafico round 2 next Saturday. Here's to hoping they rotate some of their squad for our game.
I'd love it if we beat these guys, but LAFC is in good form (4 wins in their last 5 games), they're sitting way up top of the western conference (and the whole league) and they're rested and we're not (our 3rd game in 8 days), so I'm not optimistic. Hopefully Freddy can sneak his good-luck cat into the game (or maybe it will just find its own way in), but the Magic 8-Ball™ says 0-3 loss.
Any points here is success. I just hope we don't get ran through like we did against them last year and in USOC
But then we made up for it by dumping them out in the first round of the playoffs, so I don't know which is worse, losing to LAFC during the regular season or sending them home crying by beating them during the playoffs.
Holding LAFC to 0 goals would be a phenomenal result. They're averaging 2.7 goals per game. They've only been shut out 3 times this year in 24 games. And have score 3 or more goals 13 times. 0-0 would be a great result and effort.
Okay then . . . Rimando Lennon Silva Onuoha Herrera Beckerman Everton Baird Rusnak Savarino Kreilach (With lots of changing among the front four) Bench: Putna, Glad, Toia, Portillo, Plata, Johnson, Saucedo
Not loving this lineup. Actually, I hate it. Edit: on second thought, it's probably better that Lennon gets worked on the right side by Rossi than Toia getting worked by Vela. Johnson should be starting though
I only have time for the first half of this one. Feeling hopeful but also nervous that we could be brought back to a humbling reality.
Good Lord (in a bad way) Everton, that was terrible. Good Lord (in a good way) Nicky, that was amazing!
We're scrambling to defend and in each other's way. Hopefully we work that out because we have to cover for each other as LAFC makes interchanging runs and dummies.
Double and triple teaming Savarino when he gets the ball has worked out for LAFC so far. They've cut down his angles and prevented him from finding the open player. Drew a good foul though, this last time.
