I think a coach can feel the refs are incompetent to a degree, yet still coach. Probably a high percentage of them are in that boat.
This is what I was thinking. Its fine to think they are incompetent. The problem is the focus. You have about zero control over refs, so you should spend about zero percent of your time focused on them. If you think the refs are out to get you, spend extra time focused on your team and do your best to make sure its not left in the refs hands. And when the refs screws you over, use it to improve what you can control.
I still want to know what exactly he said that got him in so much trouble. Anyways, hope they keep the home side happy with a win and not a draw!
Never mind, just did some digging and found out. The language he used doesn't really bother me, maybe all those years in the Army desensitized me. What was dumb was who he said it to and how he did it, aka taking a sign and showing it to a ref while cussing him out. That's some funny shit right there. Of course this is 2019 and not 1989 so people are much more sensitive to bad words and hurt feelings. Although in this case it's not that Petke said bad words, rather he can't control himself in certain situations. As a fan, you want a coach who can rise above the bs and be able to lead not just when things are going our way, but when everything is going wrong, especially when they are going wrong. I don't think Petke's that guy, but that's just my opinion.
Off to a bad start against NYCFC early. Annnnd, Savarino misses the goal 1v1 against the keeper in the 12th.
First world soccer problem: our seats are too close to the field. Viewing angle, yes, but also the various and sundry abusive fans.
Chippy first half. Kyle very, very, lucky to still be in the match if you ask me. NYCFC abusing the RSL back line. Give Schmitt a chance. Baird sucks.
The older I get, the less I tolerate people who just rant and shout about anything and everything... oh, and that includes at soccer games.
The older I get the more I want to go on rants. But not against officials. I’ve submitted to the reality that MLS officials will always be pretty bad. Anymore I just ignore it unless I think player Safety is endangered because of it.
NYCFC seems to be playing for the tie this whole half. Their sub reinforces it. That tug on Kreilach was weak. He should have stayed on his feet and tried to do something with that ball. Good no call.
