Jesus ******** how did that meeting go? Hey, you guys know that song where the most catchy part is WEST VIRGINIA? What if we did that song but changed the most catchy part.
I honestly don't think it is all that bad. I think that parts are good, including the Colorado switch. And "mountain roads" speaks to people along the rocky mountains. So I can see how you get behind it. I just think it could be worded more in relation to the Rapids and soccer in general as opposed to just talking generally about being in Colorado with the Rapids being kind of an after thought. It might be better to have a group of fans singing it to to give it more of an anthem feel to it rather than just an attempt at a professional song. I would overall say it is average, which isn't bad. It is pretty tough to top "If You Believe" for it's complete originality in both music and words along with the catchy-ness of it. Unfortunately, we need to stop over playing it during games and find something else to chant during goals. Stick to Believe for Pre and Post game times.
I remember a home game a few seasons back against Seattle or Portland and we were sitting near the opponent’s section in the upper East stands. The “Believe” song was played and they basically said, “Nice sound system”. They then said the same thing after each time it was played.
John Denver. Meh. I have a suggestion for a different song. This song was part the Netherlands entry for the Eurovision song contest in 1979. You wouldn't have to change the words at all and it's a bit more catchy that that cheesy rip-off of John Denver's original song.
Meh, those fan bases (in some cases for good reason mind you) think they do things the "right way" when there really is no right way in my mind. No other sport has or expects their fans to randomly chant and sing during the contest. The NBA, NFL and NHL all pump the noise with in stadium sound systems. That is american culture. I agree that having the fans naturally singing is a very cool aspect of soccer culture, but that doesn't make it the right way to do things still. So, they can be their Euro-posing selves and lift their noses at us. We still have as many MLS Cups, and we can still have fun at the Riot.
I'm pretty sure I've heard "You'll Never Walk Alone" coming from the speakers when I've watched Liverpool play. Music coming through speakers at a sporting event is such a silly thing to concern oneself with.
yes, they play that song over the speakers and the fans sing along. Like we do with Believe. Though, Anfield is pretty damn good at having other actual songs (not chants, there is a difference) be heard/sang en masse the rest of the game. This is a pretty substantial problem with RSL. Section 35 will do the occasional chant that elongates to possibly a song, but otherwise everything is just chants from the various sections. Which, as stated before, is typical of American culture. I would just love to see it changed. Seattle and Portland actually sing. I am jealous of it. It's not bad of me to say that.
