Nick goes for win 200 against his old club, as we're home for a brief interlude between road games. DC is in last place in the East, 0-4-1 on the road and struggling to score. They might be a bit distracted by the will-he-or-won't-he dance with Wayne Rooney. This better be three points.
0-0 snooze fest for sure I saw Nicky at the Royals game during midweek. He didn't love me saying "HEY NICKY!"
I need: a reason to believe to stand upon my feet to shout it loud Save me the battle hymns. Just f*cking play the game. Make necessary changes even if it betrays the Old Guard. No time for Family. Show some teeth. Win already.
I'm guessing he'd be even more unhappy if we adapted the lyrics to this for him: So, it could be worse...
Ref report: Real Salt Lake v D.C. United REF: RUBIEL VAZQUEZ AR1: KYLE ATKINS AR2: KEVIN KLINGER 4TH: ALEJANDRO MARISCAL VAR: JON FREEMON I don't recall any of these names, so that could be a good thingI hope we can look decent and win, that is all
Same lineup as the past two weeks: Rimando Ruiz Besler Glad Lennon Beckerman Kreilach Rusnak Plata Savarino Baird
Good grief, whoever was supposed to mark Paul Arriola completely forgot. 1-0 DC on a very easy goal in the first ten minutes.
Some goals you just can't unsee... Leave a man so alone he may as well be stake a claim to the land and squat, and that's what happens.
Corey Baird really is the story of the season so far this year. Impressive start to his MLS career. His goals have been pretty different from each other, and that was just a good run and a great header from a perfect delivery from Plata.
I don't even care that it's just DC. RSL could use a game to get confidence and hopefully move forward more successfully. Baird is indeed the story of the season so far.
Close to perfect from Savarino (with the skills to beat his man) and Baird (with the slight drop back into the box to get open). Out for a corner.
Hard to say that they've built much momentum after all in a pretty boring 2nd half that hasn't looked too much like 11v10
No idea what Glad was doing to give away that last-second corner. Almost cost the team; definitely cost Rimando on the head knock.
RSL let their foot off while DC put their foot on. DC started playing like a team who wanted to knick a point and RSL started playing like a team that didn't want to lose two points. Still, RSL held on, barely.
I wish we knew how to properly close out games. We love to get in positions where we should easily win, then allow the other team to get back in the game. There was no reason we should've let them gain momentum in the final 20.
