True. I'm not ready to board the "Fire Petke" train at this point. I am surprised that our impatient, cynical bunch hasn't been calling for Petke's head yet. Maybe we're more reasonable that people want to admit?
Or we know the team sucks for what he wants to do. Our defense is awkward and easily pulled apart for a high pressure strategy. But at the same time, Petke needs to get results with this group, so he might need to change plans for this year.
This is Fire Waibel, he assembled this squad filled with crap, brought in shit players that have no fire and give up. If they don't fire Waibel and strip this defense down to the studs, everyone should cancel their tickets, I know I will.

Definitely. Petke is the only part of RSL that doesn't make me want to tear out my hair. He makes his own mistakes but I feel it unfair to judge him too much when he's taking over someone else's dumpster fire without a proper offseason and transfer window.

I am not upset with Petke, because he flat out doesn't have the pieces. This whole year the whole defensive unit has been a shambles (save Glad, but hey he hasnt played so...) Our offensive production has increased. Maybe it doesn't seem it but it has. Cassar...did not have the right attitude. he thought he had all the pieces. Petke never wants to lose a game, but he seems to see reality. Unlike Waibel, as Ismitje noted! IT BLOWS MY MIND THAT ONLY AFTER HOUSON DO WE GET ARTICLES ABOUT HOW THE DEFENSE HAS TO SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT. Its been 3 years! we have been griping and grumbling since borchers left!
As cynical as I am, this team wasn't assembled by Petke, so I'm still upset with Weibel and Cassar for what we have. I slept in so I had the luxury of watching the CL final during this game. Put RSL on the 2nd monitor on mute so I could just laugh at how bad we were. Man, this CL final was amazing. Sad Ronaldo couldn't set another record with another hat trick, but man he's the definition of clutch. Sorry Messi fanboys, but Ronaldo is the GOAT. He's almost always making an impact on the team game in and game out. Now, time to watch the Monarchs game, which I assume will be much more enjoyable than the RSL game.
All of RSL's CB's combined don't add up to Borchers & Olave. Including Glad. How anyone expects Glad to turn into the player his potential teases sitting next to a Maund or Schuler is crazy. This team looks like a poorly put together expansion team and we know exactly what that looks like.
I Love Petke. He may not be the greatest coach and only time will tell but he just payed down the gauntlet in his post game comments. He said if it was him he wouldn't be on the beach or wherever it is these guys are going he would be in the gym, on the soccer field or talking to a good psychiatrist. He also said with the U20's and injured players coming back they're all going to be fighting for their positions. This should be very interesting moving forward. I hope we will need lots of popcorn.
