Phillies defense has been great of late. We don't score goals often. Our best hope is likely a scoreless draw. I'm guessing we get a 0-1 loss with a few missed chances and more lack of good high percentage chances created.
Based on whoscored stats and what they derive to be team's strengths and weaknesses, this could be a really interesting one. Momentum certainly favors Philly who has taken 14 out of 18 points in their last 6 (undefeated) and is perfect in their last 4. We meanwhile have 3 points out of 18 with a single win in the run and everything else losses. Philly: + Strengths Attacking down the wings Aerial duels Defending set pieces Shooting from direct free kicks - Weaknesses Defending against long shots Defending against through ball attacks Protecting the lead Style of Play Long balls Attack through the middle Attacking down the right Consistent first eleven Opponents play aggressively against them RSL: + Strengths Creating long shot opportunities Protecting the lead Stealing the ball from the opposition - Weaknesses Keeping possession of the ball Defending against skillful players Aerial duels Finishing scoring chances Avoiding individual errors Defending against through ball attacks Real Salt Lake's Style of Play Attempt crosses often Control the game in the opposition's half Attempt through balls often Take long shots Long balls Take a lot of shots Play with width Rotate their first eleven Play the offside trap Aggressive
A lot of interesting contrasts in styles that might actually help RSL... aside from aerial duels. Having 3 people under 5'6" on the field effects that a lot. infact, ouside of our central defenders, we generally dont have players strong in the air at all. Mullholland is likely the next best.
The new one is him running into Sean Johnson at full speed and flipping himself while Johnson merely stumbles.
I couldn't figure out how to embed that video, but it's the second one here. For your goalpost-heading pleasure:
Here's the article. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...mmittee-suspends-beckerman-murillo-and-angoua
In more positive news (I think), we'll be competing with 15 to 32 and family for straws in section 14 this weekend. But I wanted to see Beckerman play, too.
Wish you were closer to section 31. With this news I will give a prediction of 3-1 either way, with a 75% chance it will be a loss.
That's an LA, Seattle, NYCFC, Portland fine and suspension. Happens against most any other MLS team and it's meh from the Disco. Besides, someone should do that to the "take a duece" every game.
I'll have to glare that way from section 4. At least until the sun is in my eyes and I cant look up more than a few feet off the field. I'm hoping the rough part of the sun is during halftime.
Sunny and Luke midfield duo? Oh joy. Oh, and PLEASE put Rusnak back in the AM spot. LM is not his position. He's not bad at it, he's just so much better/useful in the middle of the park. Something like this then? Nick Tony Schu Maund Schmidt Sunny Luke Hernandez Rusnak Plata Silva Anybody know the status on Phillips?
If you're going to run more of a flat 4 midfield, I'd much rather put Rusnak as one of the middle two. It at least gives him more freedom to run through the middle. At that point though, it'd probably be easier to just run a diamond with Rusnak up top, Sunny in back, Mulholland on one side with someone else on the other.
This will be the first match I'll be able to attend this season. I am excited. I am going to drink some beer. Not too much, though. Just enough. We will win.
Watching alone... DW finds the current edition of RSL rather tiresome... feels like an obligation to watch... I can't disagree. But, I don't have anything else to do. So, I'm watching. Not sucking too badly right now.
It's a pretty wide open game, can't fault the effort. Generating shots, and shots on frame. What a concept. Savarino makes the team better.
