Hey this kid is pretty alright. Already has more shots on goals than the rest of the team! i dunno if that's actually true, i've been playing mario kart witht the game in the background
I kind of wish Yura was playing outside back. This seems like a "why the hell not" sort of night. Poor Lalo is wondering how to get a game.
So on Wednesday, the only player's on this field who really has made a case for more minutes are Savarino and Hernandez. Silva and Dunk should never see the field again. Well at least Silva!
Come on Genius mode. (DON'T JINX IT) In the first half RSL looked slower, smaller, less skilled, at almost every position. Dunk's just over matched and his mids and wingers didn't help him much...and Wingert's not going to extend himself to rotate. This is a better second half...the team's shown a lot more energy and physicality, and we've seen a spark from our subs: Schmidt combined well with passes and long balls up the left. Savarino is clearly a player and he's instantly generating combos with Yura and Velazco and others - Jefferson makes everyone better (nice free kick too). So we've gained a real player from first appearances (I know it's early) - but we're about 4 midfielders and defenders short of being a competitive MLS side right now, which is why we keep giving up really poor opportunities. Maund, frankly, isn't ready to be back in an MLS backfield just yet (and why didn't he shoot!). He doesn't look switched on or full speed. If I were Petke I'd give Schmidt more minutes there at CB. He's not shy, he distributes well. He's got Horst quickness (which is to say very little) but ... yeah, there are no answers right now.
Schmidt came in and played a new position and did pretty well. He's one of those guys with way more minutes this year than he should have, but he's been okay tonight too.
Savarino looks legit. I think I like Schmidt better as an outside back. Anyone know why Silva didn't play?
Correct me if I am wrong, is that 290 minutes without a goal? and during that time I think our shots on goal are less than the goals scored on us.
Not to overhype another young forward but Savarino looked to be on a higher level than the rest of the kids. He hasn't had a chance to mesh with the team but with how we've looked lately I wonder how much that really matters. Just throw him out there next week imo
Silva is really just a poorer version of Luis Gil. Hopefully we will see very very little of him from here on. Putting Rusnack, Lennon, and the new kid on the pitch together should be interesting.
Fire Waibel. It's almost criminal for RSL not to have MLS Quality starting CB's on this team. Ridiculous. Injuries are ridiculous with this team.
Chicken Little version: Even when healthy, the team does not have enough quality players. We don't want a team that is used to losing. Our veterans are no longer pulling their weight and our young guns don't have enough experience. Optimist version: Injuries and call-ups are forcing this team to field B and C teams during the first half of the season. However painful, this will give new players experience. Our U-20 crew is playing on the world stage, doing well, and they will be better players when they return. Rusnak, Lennon, and Savarino are good pick ups. This is definitely a building year, but the experiences should also help us play better as the season progresses.
IMO Hernandez did not have a good game. I had high expectations, but he was not good. Stats reflect that. He was often out of place, was very easily dispossessed and made some poor passes. The thing he did fairly well is drop deep defensively when needed.
