No, since they (MLS) would have just ignored it, and Dallas would still be there. I am happy it worked out that Dallas crashed out as they should have.

 

The league would have ignored it. Mike Petke and DLH would not have, though. In fact, a lawsuit wouldn't have been out of the question.

 

First move of the offseason that I've come across:

Now that is a coaching extension I can get behind. Lets hope in 12 months I don't come to regret feeling that way.

 

Hard to argue against it. I like the guys honesty and willingness to be candid. You can tell his players do, too.

 

He goes to bat for him team too. I bet the team got behind him quite a bit during his ref rant when the Printer Broke.

What I see needing to happen:

1. Yura Movsisyan moved out of club
2. Jefferson Savarino locked up (I think this has to happen after Yura or it would have already)
3. Kyle Beckerman contract or leave
4. Nick Rimando contract or leave
5. Center forward starter
6. Brooks Lennon purchase
7. Box to box midfielder purchase

Curious to see how Waibel handles the following players, as well

• Allen (can't seem to stay healthy - Monarchs?)
• Barrett (too old and serious surgery, move on)
• Dunk (move to the Monarchs?)
• Holness (bye)
• Sunny (bye)
• Phillips (bye)
• Schmidt (move to Monarchs)

• Velazco (the legal shit makes me want to say bye no matter what)

I forgot Holness was even on the team.

 

Will we see any news before playoffs are finished? I'm guessing no moves allowed until the season is all buttoned up?

 

A friend of mine who runs youth soccer in Idaho called Petke's press conference the best coaching performance of the year, knowing he risked a fine or suspension to publicly stand up for his players.

 

We may see contract negotiations within our team, but I don't think we'll see any real moves until the transfer window opens after MLS Cup.

 

I have never watched the ESPY's, but if "Best Coach Press Conference " isn't a category, it should be.

 

Most of their categories are boring. Other than "Best Upset" it's pretty unimpressive.

 

I thought because of the legal problems, he was suspended indefinitely which is why I was surprised to see his name still on the roster as injured.

what are the odds Rusnak is still around after the winter signing window? frankly that's the one I care about the most.....

 

I think pretty good. Echoing 15-32 he is signed to a 3 year deal but if they get an offer they can't refuse...

 

We were after this guy pretty hard last offseason. Interesting to see his name come back up this quickly. Wonder if he was one of those CW "sure things" in the summer window.

 

Yep. CW did a good job on the contract here. According to this piece, it's a 4 year deal. That's massive. Another season like he had this year (tied for most assists in the league, tied on the team for most goals, almost always the most dangerous player on the field, etc etc) and then we look to sell in 2019 or 2020.

This will be hard for RSL fans, though. We haven't really had a guy identified so young in their career, blossom, and then sold for profit. With how fans here stick to guys, this will likely cause some to be upset.
