Assuming there's no strike, this is it: the launch of season 11. And boy am I ready. With our oldest away at college and our youngest on an orchestra trip, Mrs. Ismitje and I can do anything we want that weekend, and what we want to do from Friday at 7 PST to Sunday at 9 PDT is watch MLS. Please?
So our starting 11 should be pretty predictable, right? What we saw versus Colorado except for swap out Mansally for Phillips. I'm just not sure on who subs in and when. How does this formation shift when we are trying to hold a lead or when we are trying to score a goal?
Are you serious? Wow. (yeah, I know you are.) I'm sure I'd fit MLS in there somewhere, but I can think of a lot of other stuff I'd rather be doing with the kids gone for the whole weekend. One thing's for sure, I would not be caught dead wearing anything more than underwear in the house that entire time!
Odds of us winning this match 25% odds of us losing 25% odds of match being cancelled due to strike 50%. I am Just making this shit up because I am really scared we will not see any REAL soccer in MLS until about week 10 of this season.
Fanboy age of participants in this scenario would play a considerable part in any weekend plans. This coming from a fan who would know!
uh.... so.... soccer...? yeah, soccer. Wait it probably won't happen? Well shit. Now we have to hear about fanboy's commando adventure
The RSL SoccerByIves preview is out and it's more or less a joke -> http://www.sbisoccer.com/2015/02/preview-salt-lake.html A starting lineup with Plata and Gil on the Wing and Pecka paired with Beckerman in the back? Yeah. He tweeted it out to promote it today, and I'm like (in my head) - "man have you even paid any attention to this team?"
Ives setting new bars of laziness. Seriously, all it would have taken is like 15 minutes of research to find that Gil isn't one of the forwards. To not have Jaime on the field but to have an injured Plata screams "The last time I watched this team was in 2014"
Well, MLSSoccer.com's preview had us set to play a 4-4-2 diamond. I made a comment in the relevant section and they changed it to a 4-3-3 with Olmes instead of Luke.
MLSPU doesn't have the money to go 10 weeks on strike. They'd be lucky to make it a month. They'd be foolish to strike and drain their coffers on this CBA over free agency, a topic they won't win until the next CBA at the earliest.
I'll be at my parents in Ogden. We generally break out the board games before, then have some food and watch the game. Always a good time.
Yeah, the midfield for Portland is like a scene from a warm movie after a big battle. Bodies everywhere. This actually helps us a ton as I was worried our midfield was going to get ran over in the 4-3-3. Now, though? we should eat them alive. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. A home opener is going to be hard to get full points, but one is very realistic. Nicky Tony Olave Schu Palmer* Gil KB Javi Jaime Sabo Garcia Bench: JeffA, Vasquez, Mansally**, Luke, Pecka, Allen, Sandoval *Mansally moves to starting if Palmer's hammy is a problem **Glad or Maund move to the bench if Mansally moves to starter Side note: making a bench is ridiculously hard
Do we know if Pecka is fully fit and healthy? He was held out of the last few preseason games with some minor thing.
if he is a no go then I assume Maund or Glad slide in. honestly, I have no idea who will fill spots 15-18. JeffA, Luke, and Sandoval are all locks. But after that???
