26 June Thun - Wohlen 0-1 Rapperswil-Jona - GCZ 2-0 YB - Breitenrain 3-1 Thun - Breitenrain 1-0 YB - Wohlen 3-0 It looks like Thun/YB/Breitenrain did a little round-robin. 27 June FCSG - Wil Universitatea Craiova - Vaduz Winterthur - FCZ Basel - Austria Lustenau Luzern - Schaffhausen Thun - Le Mont Lugano - Dinamo Bucuresti Sion - KF Hajvalia Chiasso - Lugano 30 June GCZ - Lugano

3 July Basel vs 1869 Munich Winterthur vs GCZ Luzern vs Spartak Moscow 4 July Wil vs FCZ Thun vs Schaffhausen Sion vs LS 5 July YB vs Wohlen Sion vs Xamax - this match was cancelled due to the city of Payerne being afraid that the two Ultra groups would cause too much trouble.
18 July Luzern - Sion 2-2 Sion was up 0-2 until the 90' when they let in 2 goals in stoppage time. Not the best for a team that wants to challenge Basel and YB. FCZ - YB 1-1 Good away point for YB, but they did let in the tying goal. 19 July Basel - Vaduz 2-0 Expected result from the likely top team vs one of the two candidates for relegation. Thun - GCZ 3-5 GCZ was up 1-5 a the half, Thun looked tired from their trip to Israel. FCSG - Lugano 2-0 Logical win against one of the two teams that look to battle against relegation.
Don't get your hopes up. Bein is filling time right now. The Super League matches will be on the streaming service and sometimes not at all once Italy, Spain, and France start up.
25 July YB - Luzern 1-1 GCZ - Basel 2-3 26 July Lugano - Thun 2-3 Sion - FCSG 1-0 Vaduz - FCZ 2-2 Surprise of the week is Vaduz with the draw with FCZ. I think it also shows hos much FCZ has lost this past summer. Basel 6 Sion 4 GCZ 3 FCSG 3 Thun 3 FCZ 2 Luzern 2 YB 2 Vaduz 1 Lugano 0 I think that Lugano is in for a long season.
Went to the Sion/St. Gallen match yesterday. It was much better than the Wil/Aarau match I saw the previous day. Two penalties called in this one, and a red card called against Sion, but I'm not sure it was worthy of a red. Yellow, I can understand, but red? No way that's a red. Sion had many chances, but couldn't capitalize on any of them, until the scored from the spot. The penalty for St. Gallen was missed and the crowd went nuts. By the way, although there were many empty seats around, the supporters' end was filled to capacity, and they did their best to create a wonderful atmosphere. I got a picture of their celebration tifo, as well. Also, if there's a better scene at a soccer game than at the Tourbillon, I've yet to find it. The mountains and hills surrounding the stadium provide such a picturesque backdrop. It's amazing. Seriously, get a load of the view. Beautiful.
Also, Lugano would be better off if they didn't hire Zeman. He's definitely going to be sacked first because his teams give up goals like a sieve.
Looks like you climbed the mountain to the south up to the castle to get the first picture. Sion is a beautiful town. Nice reports.
That climb from the train station all the way up to the Chateau de Tourbillon was one of the most brutal experiences. I'm not a little guy who's light on his feet, so this was really tough, but being up there and looking out at everything was remarkable. An amazing experience.
It is a pretty brutal climb, almost at 45 degree angle at parts. I have done it in snow from the parking lot between the chateau and the cathedral. It is a really pretty view and worth the climb, but it is tough.
I was watching here in Dubai. Hope to see more. Last season they had matches but more on replay. Otherwise it's the big five European leagues.
BeIn is showing the Basel vs Sion match this weekend. http://www.beinsportsconnect.tv/schedule/soccer/348817
Wouldn't be surprised by that. Schedule from DirecTV had the next three matches on live, though. Better than nothing.
1 Aug Basel - Sion FCSG - YB 2 Aug Lugano - Vaduz Thun - Luzern FCZ - GCZ Interesting weekend. Sion and Basel play in the first meeting since the Sion victory in the Swiss Cup. This will be a "statement game" for Sion. If they really want to challenge Basel, they need something from this match. The Zurich derby should always be fun, but FCZ is playing very poor right now, and they lost two players to injury, Davide Chiumiento and Mike Kleiber. That compounded with all of the exits from the summer make this a match that GCZ should win. Thun and Vaduz try to recover from the exertions of their midweek Europa League qualification match. YB tries to put the bad 2nd half memories on Monaco away.
1 Aug Basel - Sion 3-0 FCSG - YB 1-1 Gajic with a late PK to help a 10 man YB earn a point on the road. Here is the problem, with Basel comprehensive defeat of Sion, YB is already 6 points behind. 2 Aug Lugano - Vaduz Thun - Luzern FCZ - GCZ
2 Aug Lugano - Vaduz 1-0 Thun - Luzern 0-1 FCZ - GCZ 2-3 Lugano gets their first points of the season. Vaduz and Thun prepare for their Europa League match with two losses. FCZ and GCZ were tied until the 93rd min when GCZ broke a 5 match losing streak to FCZ. Shani Tarashaj had the 1st and 2nd goal for GCZ. Basel 9 GCZ 6 Luzern 5 FCSG 4 Sion 4 YB 3 Thun 3 Lugano 3 FCZ 2 Vaduz 1
The Basel match on Saturday was fun. They have some good supporters. Lots of flags and smoke. It was also fun to watch Basel play. They are a damn entertaining side and I really don't see anyone in this league stopping them. Delgado's free kick goal The Vaduz match on Sunday was pretty much what I was expecting from 2 teams fighting to stay alive. One of these two teams is going down at the end of the year. You can pretty much book it. Vaduz let Lugano have control of the game and decided to play counterattack, but I don't think that was the right play from Contini. He looked the whole time to be content to take a point on the road and if his team could nick a goal, that'd be even better. Vaduz and Lugano are very similar in quality, and the fact that Contini basically told his players to play counter hurt them. Lugano's defense is not strong. Granted, Vaduz didn't really create much, but that's because they let Lugano control the play. With a better game plan, this could've been a different game, but the sides are actually very even. I can bet you that when Lugano comes to Vaduz, they won't be sitting back, but that's only because Zeman is their coach, and he doesn't operate that way. Kinda disappointed in the result, but it was fun sitting with the Vaduz supporters. Markus Neumayr's free kick in a dangerous position Unfortunately, this was my last RSL game in person, but I hope not for forever. I got to see all RSL stadiums from the last two seasons over the last year. It's sad to me that I'll have to go back to watching illegal streams just to watch matches from the Swiss Leagues, but that's OK. It's been a blast. I hope to get to go back again some time soon!
