Guaranteed non-traditional lineup vs. San Jose... RSL without Rimando, Plata, Saborio, Salcedo, Gil this week. Schuler (possible broken nose) and Beltran (herniated disc) could be out, too.— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) October 6, 2014 ... also no Javier Morales. He's out for Saturday's match vs. San Jose due to yellow card accumulation.— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) October 6, 2014 So it'll either be a dumpster fire or a surprising and gritty win. Good chance for the second team folks to make a good impression. Chances of seeing Balchan seem slim after yesterday, but given the high number of absences, he'll likely make the 18.
Eight players out. 8. Ocho. Holy shit I wasn't impressed with our 4-3-3 approach against SacRep so I'm not too found of going that route. Thinking we will have to see a midfield that includes Grossman and KB. Is Justin Glad ready to play first team minutes? He'll likely be in the 18 for this one.
Glad looked equal or better than the other players in the SacFC game, so I'd say he's ready. He probably could have done decently yesterday - maybe he wouldn't have no-looked it to the other team...
Well, it'll be a good chance for some young guys to show they really deserve to be on this team and get minutes in actual MLS games. I'm looking at you Velasquez, specifically. How stupid is Javi's petty yellow card looking now? What a dumb play, totally unnecessary. Attinella Wingert, Borchers, Salcedo (Schuler if his face gets put back together), Mansally (is he healthy?) Grabavoy, Beckerman, Velasquez, Mulholland Jaime, Findley
Salcedo is gone with Mexican under 21's. so flip that to maund and you have your lineup. We're giving up goals with it, that's for sure. And I'm not overly confident we'll score with Findley and Jaime.
This game is going to be incredibly rough. I'm really hoping Beltran and Schuler are healthy and able to go 90, because if not, we're certain to give up at least one goal. Our forwards are going to be Findley, Jaime, and Olmes/Sandoval, and Jaime is the only one I can see scoring. I really hope we wind up pleasantly surprised, because right now I don't like the look of the team. I feel like we're barely going to have a starting 11, with a bunch of sub par sub options.
It doesn't matter who starts in the back, we're giving up a goal. This team can't keep a clean sheet. We have to score at least 2 to win. in this one, given Wondo's poaching abilities, I'm betting we'll need 3+ I find it ironic that you think Jaime, the only one of the bunch not to score a goal this season for RSL, is the one that will score. I was hopeful before with him. Right now, though, I see him as a project for next season
It is Possible that Rimando could start if he doesn't see action Friday in Connecticut for the US Team.
I suppose... though I don't see why we would need to rush him back. Attinella saved a PK at Vancouver and couldn't do much of anything to save the other two goals. That isn't the spot I'm worried about. And, if we're being honest, while Balchan is the prime culprit on the Chivas goal, I really thought Nicky could have done better with the ball off the crossbar. Go get that shit, Nicky. Don't sit back and wait.
Now this is the kind of pessimism that'll keep the embratsu threads at bay. Keep it up, and the unicorns will be out of here permanently! Things are looking up...er, very bad, Very bad, indeed.
Well, at least one player decided to punt their call-up and help their team. Bekker: It’s an honour to be called for Canada, however I have decided to remain with TFC as we look to qualify for the playoffs. #tfclive— Toronto FC (@TorontoFC) October 7, 2014 He must be fairly confident that Canada doesn't have much choice but call him again. Would be nice if an RSL player or two did the same, but Carlos, Joao and Luis are all too new to the call-ups to say no. Not sure Nick would make a big difference (given the absences on the field) and Sabo is just plain rusty, so two games with Costa Rica may be better than one with us.
One up-side for us is that San Jose will be playing the second leg of their home/away series against Portland on Wednesday, so our game on Saturday will be their third in eight days.
Yes, Lenhart is gone for the season - and apparently now Wondo will be out this weekend... NEWS: @ChrisWondo added to #USMNT roster for upcoming friendlies vs. Ecuador and Honduras---> http://t.co/oIDh9bqfha #Quakes74— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) October 7, 2014 So 15 is right...
At least no more Wondo, which helps a little. I still have some faith in Jaime. I don't think he's been given the best run of time overall. Played in some 4-3-3's that we're not used to, and terrible turf. He's the most talented of the bunch, so he's the guy I'm looking at to score. I still don't feel good about this game, even with the players SJ are missing. It's definitely a game where we need to put up or shut up.
Gee, lovely news on Twitter from RSL today. Schuler out until post-season at a minimum (not surprising). But the new bad news is that Atinella rolled his ankle and left early with Tyson Pace. Might be Lalo starting with Jeff as backup...
Nat's beard must have looked at Jeff wrong. Someone should go tell Nat's beard to tone it down a bit.
