Norway plays a "single year" season.

The season began on 1 April 2017 and ended on 26 November 2017, not including play-off matches. [relegation playoffs]

That's sad, Rubio was the US Soccer young player of the year only a few years ago.

Not at all. He was an Eredivisie starter at age 18. Then he got hurt and had never been the same.

Ok, I wasn't sure if it was an injury or he just went somewhere and wasn't rated.

I've been probably saying this for two years now but the injury changed the projectory of his career imo.

This is a big opportunity for him to showcase his ability. Sad the way his career has crumbled after posting 3g and 6a in the Eredivisie in 2014/15.

I love that he and the author of the article discuss the effect of pay-to-play on the Latino community. The more exposure that is put on this issue, the better. USSF is a joke, and ostracizes our best players and coaches (Hugo Perez) almost on purpose.

Absolutely. And this is the choice quote from Rubin:

“I went through that system and I made it, [but] there are some players in that situation where they’re not able to play in the academy, not able to pay. My parents, they did some crazy stuff for me to continue to play soccer. I remember one time my pops wanted me to quit soccer just because it was so expensive and they couldn’t afford it. But there were some guys on the team, their parents were able to pay for me. It’s one of those things – soccer in America, it’s not free. In most countries, especially Europe, the best players are playing for the [pro] academies, everything is paid and all that.”

I'd be interested in this move if I thought Rubin would play more than 5 league games over the next 12 months. I don't.
