71.: SIF foretager sin første udskiftning. Rubio Rubin sendes i aktion i stedet for Skhirtladze. (0-2) #silkeborgif #sldk #sifagf— Silkeborg IF LIVE! (@sif1917_live) May 1, 2017
He's a free agent at least and possibly made a Million U.S dollars after tax over the length of his contract. I think that ankle injury did him in. Being shy in front of goal aside, he just had too much talent to not be a difference maker at the Danish level. I don't know how he goes from his former contract to whatever the MLS would offer him.
Very sad career trajectory so far. Here's hoping his next move is the right one. I selfishly want MLS so I can watch him, but anywhere that he can get comfortable and build confidence back up is ok in my book.
MLS profile has risen since 15 years ago. If you don't cut it in the Danish Super Liga, you're not going to cut it in MLS. Long season ahead but if Rubio can't get any time by the winter break in November he might need to be looking at USL.
I didn't even realize he'd already been released. If I were Rubio and interested in heading home I'd look south of where I was raised. SF Deltas one of the best D2 sides in the country, Fresno just got a USL team, he can probably command a higher salary than most.
Ask and ye shall receive... It's weird because I also randomly thought of this guy today too. Rubio Rubin to train with Norwegian side Stabaek: https://t.co/bpSwcUBqKG #usmnt— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) July 26, 2017
I guess someone was listening... he's training with Stabaek: http://www.espnfc.com/stabaek/story...o-rubin-to-train-with-norways-stabaek-sources Rubin's arrival could be a case of good timing. According to The Sun, last season's leading scorer for Stabaek, Ohi Omoijuanfo, is currently a target of English Championship sides Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Queens Park Rangers. If Omoijuanfo does move on, that could create an opening for Rubin, who according to one source is also attracting interest from several Liga MX and MLS clubs.
I'm going to sound like a broken reocod but...It has to be the ankle injury. He lost something. That one season with Utrecht and his dominance with the u20's/u23's was no illusion. If it was just mental there would still be flashes here and there and he would probably still be in the Eredivisie.
I hardly would have called him dominant at the U20 level. He was good, surrounded by other good players. I've said before but I do suspect he reached physical maturity relatively early.
Definitely. His physical readiness and toughness were always what stood out to me. Never really anything else. I'm saying he looked physically ready at 18. To make it to the pinnacle just being physically ready isn't really enough.
You are right, but he has/had screws in one of ankles iirc guys always lose something with these types of injuries it's just usually how much.
I don't necessarily agree with some of these comments. He was very good at the U-20 WC. One of our best players at that tournament, and he did pretty well with Utrecht when he was getting minutes. He was always making dangerous things happen, although he did struggle his first season with end product, which is definitely important, but understandable for an 18 year old. After his injury, his opportunities were limited. I still think he's a talented footballer who can have a successful career and play for the NT. He needs to stay healthy and get consistent first team playing time right now. He's still young, only 21. There are eventual NT players his age who are still playing college ball. Don't write off Rubin yet.
