http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/t...-could-be-exploring-a-move-away-from-flamengo Ronaldinho is looking to Transfer away from Flamengo. MLS Next? My guess is Donovan or Keane moves overseas and Dinho moves in
Always felt it would be a good move for MLS. He's one of the few names that casual soccer fans in this country might recognize. And damn, it's Ronaldinho.
I think it is more likely than ever that Ronaldinho comes to MLS, but my guess is NY not LA. They have a DP spot, was looking at Ireland but since Villa didn't drop he won't consider MLS, and their only other targets would be Ballack and Del Piero who are 4 and 6 years older than Ronaldinho. He also played at Barca with Henry and Marquez so I think it makes the most sense. It sounds like he is done at Flamengo, I doubt he goes back to Europe to a mid level team because they can't pay his wages, and I'm not sure any big clubs want him at this point. I think his choices are MLS, China, and the Middle East. I think if the money is similar, I think he'll pick NYC.
http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/story/_/id/7994005/ronaldinho-done-flamengo-sues-ex-team It will be extremely interesting to see how this all pans out...
Given the recent news of Ronaldinho leaving Flamengo and Donovan's waning passion for MLS, I can see Donovan transfering to Everton this summer and Ronaldinho coming in to replace him. - Donovan gets out of MLS, gets to play with Everton for a full season starting from pre-season, gets his last shot at playing in Europe. - LA will get transfer/allocation funds, another globally marketable name, relatively young DP. - Ronaldinho will get to play in LA, live the Hollywood celebrity life, get paid millions with less pressure on him in competitive terms. Win-win-win for club and both players. I think 'dinho would choose LA over NYC based on lifestyle, climate, and the similarity position to Donovan that he plays. LA's DP's for 2013 and 2014 will be just as I predicted above.
I see him in an Impact uniform They need a AM since they lack offensively and Di Vaio about to come Ronaldinho Di Vaio - Wenger That will be epic
Don't want to sidetrack the thread, but not sure Everton could/would spend a significant fee on Landon. Only way he gets out is if the price is dirt cheap, they want to offload his salary, and/or they do him a favor for being a loyal soldier.
It's not a question of could and would, Everton have no money and clearly can't, effectively no matter what the asking price is without selling players of their own.
Its nice to have a legit rumor to talk about in here. I hope this actually happens regardless of where he ends up
The main question here is, has Ronaldinho given up on Brazil 2014? If not I see him staying in Brazil.
Well Becks didn't give up on South Africa and still played in MLS, so I guess you can say if he played well here and did the loan thing to PSG or whatever, maybe he could still be on the radar. But to me I think his chances of 2014 is pretty slim, he will be 34 and Brazil didn't even take him to South Africa when he was 30.
I would say Beckham's status was different with England compared to Ronaldinho's with Brazil. I would say Ronaldinho's best (outsider) chance is to stay in Brazil if he wants to make the roster. Perhaps a return to Gremio? - or did he burn all bridges there with the Flamengo move? There are also Santos and Corinthians who could possibly offer him a chance at a club world title, the only major honor missing in his club career.
i think Ronaldinho would be as popular as Beckham here in MLS!!! way more superstar level than Henry !!
http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/t...ficial-ronaldinho-signs-with-atletico-mineiro looks like this rumor is dead already
Although it sounds to me like Ronadinho was a headcase and might be worse than even Rafa Marquez, Red Bulls would have been a good place. There's a large Brazilian/Portuguese population in Newark and could have sold tickets, merchandise, etc
