The initial Times story by Hughes states from the start that Roman isn't actively looking to sell. As for Raine Group, apparently they've been consultants for Chelsea before and weren't told to find a buyer. I'm skeptical because aside from the inconsistency, stadium redevelopment plans have been apparently put back into action. And the fact that an offer from Ratcliffe was rejected earlier this year.
There are so many stories that come out of reporter's a**es. This could be one of them as the club directly denied it? Although minority stake might make sense.
That's what I'm wondering, hence my skepticism. My guess is the visa issues, which is making people think, "Hmm, I wonder if he'll sell if he's having visa issues." I read the lede and this is what it says, "Roman Ambramovich will demand of an offer of at least 2.5 billion pounds to consider selling Chelsea. The club owner had received numerous inquiries since visa problems this summer led him to put on hold the 1 billion redevelopment of Stamford Bridge but is not actively looking to sell the club." That seems to sum it up, but the minority shares do make sense though.
That's what I wonder as the follow up story does include sourcing - so maybe the source for this is actually his camp.
You're a few days late to this Jitty There have already been denials from Roman's camp, and someone has pointed out that Raine was retained by Chelsea 3 years ago
It went live last night and the usual denials were given. Russian reports also suggesting it’s not true. In all honesty, it’s moot anyway - with an asking price of 2.5mm, anyone who could afford Chelsea would spend just like Roman.
So Chelsea will visit Anfield in the 3rd round of the League Cup. Not an easy draw and was hoping to get a run in this competition to blood more youth/reserve players but this is a very tough ask.
I suspect both will field a strong side. What are the games on either side looking like for each team? That will most definitely play a role.
So just looked... Chelsea vs West Ham 23rd then Pool 25th then Pool again 29th Pool vs Southampton 22nd then Chelsea 25th and Chelsea again 29th However, Pool have champions league against Napoli after us and that's gonna be hugely important for them. Their depth is much improved but it will still be interesting to see what Klopp prioritizes.
i'm sure many have seen already but Barkley was called up to the national team and so was......MASON MOUNT. good job on him, only one season of first team football in vitesse and now just the start of the season with Derby, quite impressive.
Fantastic article on our current play compared to previous managers and how things can decline pretty quickly. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...iball-analysis-attack-defence-issues-progress
Chelsea grant Derby permission to play Tomori and Mount against us. It's the right decision and glad we came around.
Marcos Alonso signs a 5-year extension until 2023. Deal will bring him to 32 years of age, but probably would not have signed otherwise. Original deal was to August 2021 so this is really a 2-year extension with pay bump. Purchased in August 2016 for around 26m pounds. 14 goals in that time for the club but is highly criticized mostly for not being someone else maybe named Alex Sandro. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/10/24/alonso-extends-his-stamford-bridge-stay
Good deal I suppose. He annoyed me vs United as he layed there in our box while a United player receives and scores a goal. But he's also pulled us out of trouble many times. More then Morata so I'll take the good with the bad.
His pros certainly outweigh his very few mistakes. Sarri thinks very highly of him and is aware of his need to improve defensively in his system, noting that he came from a very different background (a back 5).
Positive news on the financial side (lot's of revenue coming from player sales though which is less sustainable as a source of income). https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...ounce-record-revenues-and-profits-for-2017-18
Roman almost bought Arsenal and he was offered Spurs. Abramovich met with Tottenham’s chairman but “while his Mercedes trundled along Tottenham High Road, he looked out and said in Russian, ‘This is worse than Omsk’ — the grim Siberian outpost where he had a refinery.”
