Just a Pre-season note. Today was Sundsvall's 2nd pre-season match. Romain played in the first match on the 20th (last Saturday) against Sirius. Romain Scored a Hat-trick in that match - so - so far this season he has 4 Goals in 2 matches - bodes well for the season I think!

I kinda like how this guy has grinded. Cut by an MLS team, he goes to Scandinavia and players in the lower division and then wins a contract with a team in the Swedish flight. Now seems like he's doing pretty well.

Shows a lot of character and grit.

He may never be a star, but I like how he's persevered. Given that, I would have no objections if he's called into camp in March. (Assuming the clowns who run US Soccer can manage to schedule a game or two.)

I mean, if he's not I won't consider it a huge oversight, but if gets a call-up it won't be that, uh, galling.

Wasn't the reason he was cut was because Columbus didn't want to pay him (he wasn't making that much IIRC, 90K I think) and no one else in MLS wanted to take him on for those wages either? So it wasn't that they didn't want him but they didn't want to pay him his current wages?

I remember watching the CONCACAF u-20 qualifying tournament (must have been 2015?) when he played. He was one of the few players (along with Hyndman) who stood out as having something that might get him to the next level. He was quick, reasonably adept technically, and good at taking guys on 1v1. He just had very little soccer sense and would repeatedly dribble himself into trouble, overlook wide open teammates, take ill-advised shots, etc. I thought that if someone were able to correct that stuff and raise his soccer IQ, he had the raw material to become a pretty decent player.

NYC could have signed him for whatever. But after a month of training and preseason games, they didn't offer. Reasonable position based on his performances .He really struggled in his time in the matches available to view.

Hope he makes good, though. Low physicality is just such a deal breaker in MLS. Add in lack of on field maturity, and his path was best for all parties.

That is exactly how I remember him. I always thought he had something too but would have to learn how to play with his teammates. Seems like the simple part but obviously it's not.

Went the distance and picked an assist in the 86th minute. GIF Sundsvall drew 2-2 at home against Malmo.

So that's a goal and an assist in four league games and two goals and an assist in three cup games in 2018 for Gall.

    Pretty good production.
