Does Roma have a theme song? What songs do the fans sing at the Stadio Olimpico? I can hear a lot of chants and songs in the background when I watch the games on tv, I would like to know what they are chanting/singing. That is one thing lacking in American Sports. There is noting quite like an entire stadium singing a song in unison. Thanks.
"Roma Roma" by Antonello Venditti is the main theme that they tend to sing before and after the matches, provided we don't blow them like this weekend. As for the chants, there's a ton of them and they get varied and customized to match the opponent and occasion. You can find a bunch of chants and "Roma Roma" here. Listed under "Cori Stadio," if there are any chants you come across and need some help translating just let me know.
Speaking of chants...there were chants at the Roma-Empoli match this weekend...pretty much throughout the entire match. There was one chant that they sang quite a few times...i'm not sure what it was though...anyone know?
If you wouldn't mind translating Roma Roma Roma for me that would be great. If it is too much of a bother I understand. I have been watching videos on youtube of the fans singing that song before a match and it is absolutely amazing. Especially the part towards the end where the scream ROMA ROMA ROMA. There is absolutely nothing in the states that even comes close to that.
I'll do my best..... Roma Roma Antonello Venditti Roma Roma Roma, core de stà città, heart of this city unico grande amore, only true love de tanta e tanta gente, of many many people che fai sospirà. that you make us breath Roma Roma Roma, lassace cantà, let us (all) sing da stà voce nasce un core, from this voice is born a heart so centomila voci che hai fatto nammorà. they are 100,000 voices that you made us fall in love Roma Roma bella, Beautiful t'ho dipinta io, I've painted you gialla come er sole, yellow as the sun rossa come er core mio. red as my heart Roma Roma mia, Mine nun te fa cantà, they don't let you fall tu sei nata grande you were born big e grande hai da restà. and you will remain big Roma Roma Roma, core de stà città, heart of this city unico grande amore, only true love de tanta e tanta gente, of many many people ch'hai fatto nammorà. that you made us fall in love
Nice job Falvo. Here are my observations from a few games I went to while I was studying in Rome earlier this year: When Roma wins at home, the stadium plays "Grazie Roma" and the fans stick around to sing it. For chants, there are a couple of variations of this: alè alè Roma alè, alè alè Roma alè alè alè Roma alè, alè Roma alè (link) Some of the others have "Forza Roma-alè, Roma-alè Roma-alè Roma-alèèèè" Then there a few others that the whole stadium sings that I can't seem to find. The ones you'll find on the tifosi sites are really centered on the curva sud more than anywhere else in the stadium. Occassionally I've heard the first stanza of "La società dei Magnacioni". And if the visiting team's name permits: "[insert team] x 2, vaff*****o" (Milan was a favorite).
I'm pretty sure i heard that chant in when Roma played away to Empoli? I like that chant...sounds great.
This may be stupid but I feel like telling you guys lol I'm 18 and me and my friends play soccer almost everyday. I drive of course so before each game we play I play ROMA ROMA ROMA in my car to get me ready for the game. Then after I leave the field I play GRAZIE ROMA. It makes me feel like i am part of the team haha
lol...that's hilarious. I hope you're wearing a #10 Totti jersey to play??? And after you score a goal...make sure you do the thumb in mouth celebration like Totti!!!
To tell you the truth I do wear a fake Totti jersey I bought in ROMA just to play around in =] I do own 4 real Totti jerseys but nvm that right now No I don't do the thumb in the mouth lol!! It all depends what kinda goal I score sometimes I go Insane running around and attemp to do a frontflip HAHAHA Or maybe I'll kisss my fist or put the shirt over my head. Possibly point my thumbs to the name om my jersey and SAY WHATS MY NAME LOL
Awesome man!!! Attempting the front flip will cause your buddies to go insane...but the thumbs to the back of the jersey is always a classic. You should do the Luca Toni celebration...if your buddies are not Italian, they won't know what that means though.
I'm really starting to like this song that the fans cheer...i heard again this weekend against Udinese...
1. roma roma roma is played before the match 2. followed by roma ale roma ale roma ale .... aleeeeeee forza roma ale, forza roma ale etc 3. then during the match you'll hear many different chants such as ... -passa il tempo cambia gente -maciniamo chilometri -c'e solo un capitano -ale ale roma ale .... ale ale roma ale ... roma aleeeee -some more chants, see link http://www.lamiaroma.it/cartellasalvaguai/CORI.htm 4. at the end ... grazie roma!! FORZA ROMA!
What does his celebration mean? And whats the deal Luca Toni changing team every year? 1994–1996 Modena 1996–1997 Empoli 1997–1998 Fiorenzuola 1998–1999 Lodigiani 1999–2000 Treviso 2000–2001 Vicenza 2001–2003 Brescia 2003–2005 Palermo 2005–2007 Fiorentina 2007 Bayern Munich
Well, he really didn't get into top form until 2003-2004...so changing teams is very common. And he stated that he wants to return to Italy in the next year or two. But that's the life of a soccer player...just look at Vieri...he's never anywhere for too long. And his celebration, i believe means go crazy for Toni...something like that. But now, were really getting off topic.
