Would say it's pretty speculative at this point still since it's coming from Turkey. Other reports are also suggesting that Roma may be looking at him as an alternative to Lovren if a deal can not be reached with Pool.

It's clear the Glazers have some sort of hoarding characteristic when it comes to allowing players to leave. How else can we explain 7 CBs in the squad? Or Darmian still being around?

It really doesnt make sense at all, even outside of the reasons above.

 

Definitely do not buy that story as well. Much easier to believe that, as it was originally reported, that Everton simply didn't want to meet United's valuation of the player.

 

Story may well be BS, but what is clear is that somebody at the club was / is drinking the Rojo cool-aid.

To give the guy a £130k per week contract bump last year to 2021/2022 when it was clear as day he was both a crock and crap. Somebody upstairs at the club likes or liked him.

What is different from Rojo compared to say Jones? What is more plausible is that Woodward re-upped Rojo, Smalling and Jones to new deals, with the belief that those 3 in addition of Bailly and Lindelöf would mean he wouldn't have to go to the market any further in that area.
Would therefore be a reasonable explanation as to why he was able to block any attempts on our part to get a new CB in last summer when Mourinho had asked for one. That appears to be something that is more plausible over the belief that Rojo, of all people, is special in the eyes of some higher up or another.

 

What is different with Rojo being re-upped last year compared to Jones and Smalling?

It was a geniune shock to many United fans when he was re-upped and re-upped at that salary. That was clearly on Ed and Matt Judge - as even accounting for injuries Mou and all knowledgable fans had lost faith in him.

Other reports are claiming he is reluctant to go: not sure I believe those. But we should get to a conclusion pretty soon on this, one way or another.
