    I don't know about the rest of you, but I was mightily impressed with Dick's first press conference as bondscoach yesterday. My hopes for him being able to solve this mess we're in have been raised. The man commands a natural respect, unlike Vercauteren and Vandereycken.

    I was impressed as well and especially when he told JM Phillips to shut his mouth :D

    Mmmm, I have the weird feeling that you end up with us in a group for the 2012 qualifyers;)

    Some interesting stuff from Advocaat yesterday on extra time.

    A short overview:

    * The oldies aren't done yet. So he's not going to just ditch the likes of Van Buyten, Sonck and Simons;

    * He sees Fellaini's ideal position as a holding role in midfield;

    * He'd like to move Vertonghen to left-midfield, which would free up Dembelé on the left wing;

    * Stijnen is not his automatic n°1 in goal. Although he didn't say who he considers better (my guess would be Bailly);

    * He will play some players who are on their bench for their club (example: De Sutter) if the need arises. Like when he sees no viable alternatives who are getting playing time;

    * If he feels a player doesn't want to be there, he'll kick him out, likely for good.

    Glad to hear so.

    I'm expecting a lot from Dick, except results the first 2 games. I want to see a different mentality with our players. They have to fight for it again, like they did in the past.

    Uh. His first selection and Olivier Deschacht is among them. Why Dick, why? :(

    I'm not a Deschacht fan but he's been actually pretty decent lately. Besides we don't have many options at leftback as Poco and Van Damme are missing.

    No Timmy Simons :D

    It was only a matter of time. He's 33 years old and is on the bench at his own club.

    Decent first game for Advocaat. The play itself wasn't great yet, but at least they worked their asses off all nigh long and created 6-7 good chances.

    Belgium-Hungary 3:0

    The good:

    - Eden Hazard was good throughout and was at the center of almost every good Belgian attack

    - De Roover had a very good first outing, even though his direct opponent lacked the quality to really test him

    - Fellaini actually had a decent game

    - Gillet made a very good impression in goal

    - De Sutter showed enough in the forward role to warrant him another chance in the next game

    The bad:

    - I didn't really feel the midfield truly worked in either half. Fellaini has probably earned his place at the top of the triangle, but I'm not sure if either Geeraerts or Kompany are the ideal men to partner with Vertonghen (who is a lock in midfield as well imho).

    - The lack of quality in the Hungarian team really makes it hard to say much about the Belgians' quality in this game

    Advocaat will be a dualcoach untill the end of the season.
    Belgium and AZ Alkmaar.

    Shouldn't be a problem as Belgium won't play too many games in the spring.

    I heard rumors they might play the USA, that would be so sweet. I know they will be in Holland on March 3rd

    I heard that Sporza idiot making arguments that it isnot good, especially that he gets 4 Belgian internationals to coach in AZ.
    What an idiot. Dembele is overwelmingly underperforming and now Dick gets his hands on him ( and the others) for the rest of the season. So is he going to destroy them and any other coach AZ will have do a better job than Advocaat? Shhhhhh:rolleyes:

    Don't really see what's so interesting about it. AGAIN Turkey, Kazachstan and Azerbeidjan :mad:

    Anyway, 2nd place is ours.

    Not too worried about Turkey.

    Kazachstan and Azerbeidjan suck, but mostly because of the travel.

    I prefer Austria and Germany to Bosnia and Spain!

    I prefer EVERY group (except D and I) above ours. But I'm not too worried about Turkey and Austria either, it's just that I don't think our matches are attractive.

    Really? ;) To be honest, a duel with Belgium is pretty interesting for me as well (not just due to Bailly & Daems ... but also because of the "dick advocate" who almost managed to get my club relegated in 2004/2005 - thankfully, he resigned just on time - despite signing 7 (!) new players in the winter break).

    I expect your national team to be a lot stronger than in previous years and therefore a pretty tough opponent ... since you've got a very talented generation these days and because Dick doesn't suck as much as it was the case during his 9 months in Mönchengladbach. ;)

    PS: I heard of rumours that my BMG defender Dante might be playing for Belgium soon. Just silly rumours ... or any realistic prospect? I seriously wish we'd give him a German passport. :))

    Silly rumours and I hope they stay silly rumours. I hope to God you're not serious about giving him a German passport so he can play for Germany.

    Why? He's one of the best BL centerbacks (although my team conceded too many goals so far) and surely better than a guy like Mertesacker right now. Nearby he can also play LB...

    If you don't need him, I do hope he's gonna get married with a German lady soon. ;)
