Smith said in the week they hoped he would be fit for the weekend so presumably failed a fitness test.
"Robbie Rogers and Felipe Morais both face pre match fitness tests on their strained hamstrings. Read more: http://www.walsall.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=293678#ixzz26suPAKBQ"
But in other news, the site bug has apparently been fixed and we're able to update thread titles again! Things are looking up.
If he's injured long enough, people will start remembering him as the best winger the USMNT ever had.
I was surprised he even made the bench. Has been out with the hamstring injury for over a month. He may be healed but I cannot imagine he is game fit.
Wow just thinking how far RR has dropped in 2 seasons.. From mls player to English 3rd division. Hope he's at least matured more as a player.
If Gary Smith doesn't play him Rogers' legend will get even better, and people will wonder why all these conspire to keep him down.
I don't think he's dropped that much. I'd say half of MLS clubs are solid, Championship quality, with a handful able to compete at the top and maybe push for a shot at promotion. And a handful would be in relegation battles and end up in League 1. He was a good player on a lower lever Championship level squad on the Crew who if in the Championship might find themselves in a relegation battle. I thought he might stick it out in the Champioship but it didn't work and he was loaned to League 1. I don't really think that is that far below his level. He might be a Championship level player. He might be borderline Championship/League 1 caliber. But that's the majority of MLS for me. Maybe the issue is people thinking outside of the top 5 teams, MLS is that far ahead of League 1, which I don't think it is.
League One's average pay (~$110K) is higher than MLS's median (~$83K) and, as I recall, RR was making right around that median with the Crew. In retrospect, he basically ruined his career by quitting Heerenveen.
