Yeah I know that, just pointing out how useless he has been. Taking two, three extra touches just dawdling around.
This kid has interesting potential. I wonder which J-League club will pick him up (He and Ueda, of course).
I have to slightly disagree, he certainly has tempo problems but the guy can pick his passes Mitoma will sign with Frontale. He's a product of their youth Ueda is still unknown. Koko player.
what a difference with ueda and mitoma (to be honest, even some of the local french fans would’ve picked a better team than the coach). ueda was known to the kashima antlers academy, surely more scouts have taken notice these two weeks).
we’ll have to agree to disagree on matsumoto. he grew into the game but I think he stifled the tempo in the first half. hope he gets loaned out soon because I haven’t seen him play at sanfrecce.
sorry, koko from kotogakkou, it's often abbreviated to "koko". High school player in practice What a pass from Matsumoto near at the end. Hatsuse taking all the time of this world for nothing :/ Canada with the surprising first place He was constantly beaten on his flank against Portugal though. Better today!
I thought Ogawa can be one of JNT's main CF for the next WC. From what I have seen of him, its unlikely thus far. Yuma Suzuki might have a better chance imo but he have to improve on his first touch and dribbling first.
FT: Japan 1-1 Canada. Japan could have easily finished this group with 9 points unless for some bad decisions by their coach. Anyway, this is a friendly tournament in which different combinations of players and tactics could be tested. I really liked the Uni players: Mitoma and Ueda. Tomiyasu was solid, and the whole defensive players were good, with the exception of Sugioka who slightly improved in the second half against Canada.
would be great for both ueda to be nominated designated player in the j league. ogawa’s game play is rotten since his unfortunate injury. suzuki and kitagawa would be decent overage candidates for striker.
There are still lots of players to test, And also some new players will start to appear, While others will improve along time and others will get worse along the same period. Thats how soccer works.
So for those who watched some matches of the tournament, which are the japanese players that you'd classify as good, average, or bad?
in my humble opinion, the good - miyoshi: despite being frustrating to watch he never stopped running or trying, rewarded with two goals - nakayama: classy on the ball, good range of passing. unfortunately injured but i really hope he cements a starting point at kashiwa - tomiyasu: solid in defence given he’s barely played since transferring to belgium ueda: consistently found space behind the defence with his runs, impressive finishing. not afraid to put his body on the line mitoma: like ueda was threatening in the front third the average: hashioka: continues to impress in his debut season, room to improve itakura: played well at times then every now and then would be careless in possession. not sure where his best position is the bad: sugioka: nightmare game against turkey but slightly improved in his next games. he’s played consistently first team football at shonan so i expected more fujitani: worrying both on and off the ball morishima: satisfying the sanfrecce quota ogawa: tragically bad, would struggle in the jfl given current form

I was wondering if the U-21 can be formed solely from J2 players, how it will look like? Well, here is my list (based on Moriyasu's 3-6-1 formation): GK Shugo Tsuji (Yokohama FC). Tomoya Wakahara (Kyoto Sanga). DF Honoya Shoji (Zweigen Kanazawa). Shogo Asada (Kamatmare Sanuki). Taiyo Koga (Avispa Fukuoka). Teruki Hara (Albirex Niigata). MF Yuta Kamiya (Ehime FC). Shion Inoue (Tokyo Verdy). Issei Takahashi (Renofa Yamaguchi). Taiki Hirato (Machida Zelvia). Daisuke Sakai (Albirex Niigata). Yoichi Naganuma (FC Gifu). Ryotara Ito (Mito Hollyhock). Takumi Sasaki (Kamatmare Sanuki). Kota Watanabe (Tokyo Verdy). Yuto Iwasaki (Kyoto Sanga). Daizen Maeda (Matsumoto Yamaga). Koki Sugimori (Machida Zelvia). FW Yuki Kakita (Zweigen Kanazawa). Ren Komatsu (Matsumoto Yamaga). Other Names are: Takeru Kishimoto (Mito Hollyhock) MF/FW. Atsushi Kurokawa (Mito Hollyhock) MF. Jun Okano (JEF Chiba) DF. Taiki Watanabe (Albirex Niigata) DF. Kenta Watanabe (Machida Zelvia) GK. Kaito Abe (Fabiano Okayama) DF, Kota Mori (Ventforet Kofu) MF. Kanya Fujimoto (Tokyo Verdy).
some very decent players in this list. ryotaro ito finally showing glimpses of his potential, please do not return to urawa... i would also add kiwara miyazaki (speedy winger at kanazawa) and shusuke yonehara (tall defensive midfielder at kumamoto).
I like your list. Some very promising players. Except Daisuke Sakai. Daizen Maeda is a pure FW though, let's not waste him as a MF =P Ito and K.Watanabe have been incredible in the last months.
