Hotaka Nakamura, the right-back, is the discovery of this tournament for me. He deserves a chance at the RB or RWB position in Japan’s Olympic team, as the likes of Naganuma and Hara are not good enough, and Fujitani went out of the picture.
doubt he will reach a similar level but yes, It's actually a good comparison. These players have a good potential future if they don't screw it: Mitoma, Hatate, Ogashiwa, S.Tanaka, and one sideback whose name I forgot. Probably it's the one Samurai is talking about (i'm currently outside). Not saying the others are shit or anything, just they are outsiders. Ueda is still a mystery to me. Like I said after Toulon, his off the ball movement is great. But alone it won't be enough
It’s stupid to judge Ueda based on the Copa America, he went from playing against future salary men to the best defenders in the world. He has talent and if he uses well, he’ll most likely play for the NT in less than 3 years.
https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20190724-00000001-spnannex-socc Ayase Ueda will join Kashima on a professional contract immediately, cutting short his university soccer career while continuing his studies.
Beyond Ueda's potential, I think they need that. Historically, Kashima aren't that kind of club which buys players from overseas during the season. They prefer promoting someone from the youth team. Right now their striker department is composed by: - Leandro - Takeshi Kanamori - Sho Ito - Kazuma Yamaguchi They don't have a main striker beside Ito. They clearly need manpower and Ueda is a good choice. Even if he delivers half of what he's luring to, that'd be awesome.
Working hard to become a clinical striker. コメント全文・プロフィールは:https://t.co/zEwcgds1kj pic.twitter.com/h1gGixRxlU— 鹿島アントラーズ (@atlrs_official) July 26, 2019
A prudent decision by all involved, especially in the interest of the player -in a culture where leaving the university team early to go pro is somewhat frowned upon. Kashima will benefit from the added depth too with UMA galloping off to Belgium.
Squad for the North America tour in which Japan U-22 will play against Mexico and USA’s U-22 teams respectively: GK Kojima Osako DF Iwata Machida Ominami Tatsuta Okazaki Seko MF Naganuma K. Endo Ko Matsumoto Sugioka Ao Tanaka Suga K. Watanabe M. Saito Abe Hashioka FW K. Ogawa D. Maeda A. Ueda ——————————— No Koji Miyoshi, Tsukasa Morishima, Yuki Soma, Tsuyoshi Watanabe, Yuki Sugawara, and Keito Nakamura. Yuta Nakayama got injured 2 weeks ago, and this might be the reason behind his exclusion. University players such as Mitoma and Hatete are not included. 4 of this generation players are already selected for the senior NT: Tomiyasu, Itakura, Doan, and Kubo. Therefore they were excluded from the U-22 squad. ——————————— Schedule: 6/September vs Mexico U-22. 9/September vs USA U-22.
As a whole this Olympic Generation has already 11 European-based players one year ahead of the Olympics, an unprecedented milestone in the history of Japan Olympic teams. Those 11 players are: Tomiyasu Sugawara Itakura Nakayama Doan Kubo Abe Maeda Nakamura Meshino Miyoshi
By the way, Japan’s legendary goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawagauchi will accompany the team as the GK coach.
Oops, how it comes I forgot about this dude who was the first one of this generation to play in Europe? Perhaps because he didn’t make anything notable since May 2018.
... especially giving that he is a Sanfrecce Hiroshima player. Ironically, Moriyasu was calling him up earlier in his tenure when he was rarely playing for Sanfrecce, and now Morishima is overlooked after he became a starter and performing very well. Perhaps Moriyasu has some kind of an unannounced agreement with Sanfrecce to left him out of the U-22 in the meanwhile and let him concentrate on his club team duties?
Could have been even more, but Kamada, Kitagawa, Yuma Suzuki, Yuta Koike (technically on loan from STVV), and Okugawa missed out by less than a year. Also Kento Misao missed by a year. This generation is strong, but it would have been almost unstoppable if these players were eligible.
Am I the only one deeply hoping to win the gold in Tokyo? The depth of this squad is amazing. Even as CF you have two possible choices (with Ueda more probable).
This is what we all hope for, and this is what the JFA aspire to; to get double gold medals for both the men and women teams.
I forgot about Takuma Nishimura who is also a 1996. I never realized how much talent the 1996 generation had. So unlucky that they missed out on Tokyo 2020.
Drew 0-0 against Mexico. Line-up: GK Osako DF Iwata (Ominami 38) Tatsuta Machida MF Naganuma (Hashioka 57) Tanaka (Matsumoto HT) Saito Sugioka -Captain- Watanabe (Ko 76) Abe (Endo 57) FW Ueda (Ogawa 57)
Japanese media still have the tradition of label the new generations of footballers with a nickname? This generation, the Tokyo2020 one, has some nickname?
