Senegal grab late winner!!!! From a quick corner and use their height advantage! What a game!! Brilliant game in the second half!

2-1 full time to Senegal. Mbodji with the header seals the win!

Great game of football but my worries about Senegal have been proven true again. With better teams at the World Cup Senegal will be punished for the things South Africa let them get away with.

Another team would have scored 3 or 4 goals here. Much work is needed with Senegal before the World Cup!

Baxter’s record is the worst in the history of South African football. From Shakes Mashaba who was unbeaten the whole of 2016 and 17 games undefeated (which includes 1-0 wins over Senegal and Egypt).... to Baxter to who has lost 4 out of his 5 World Cup qualifying games and won 1 friendly, drawn one and lost the rest. It’s a joke. He needs to be fired. He is a club coach not a national team coach.

Four wins and two draws in a pretty tough group featuring the best team of the last African Nations Cup... I wouldn't say they did too bad.

I will say, not an easy group to navigate for sure. Even SA were no push-overs but they really need to develop some quality finishers. I'd dare say that CV, BF and perhaps even SA will be in line for some of the extra spots by the time that the WC expands.

    Just for fun,

Better or the same from 2014
    Brasilien - better
    Uruguay - better
Tyskland - same same, maybe even more depth
    Portugal - better
    Spanien - better
    Frankrike - better
    Belgien - better
    Kroatien - better
    England - better
    Schweiz - they say better
    Russia = Better
    Nigeria - better
    Japan - better
    Sydkorea - same
    Australien - better
    Iran - better
    Mexiko - better

    Costa Rica - 2014 better
Colombia - 2014 better (but they get Falcao now) What player have they lost from 2014?
Argentina - i dont know but they didnt impressed in the qualify so i say 2014 better

    Africa
    2014
    Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Algeria

    2018
    Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia

Maybe on paper 2014 teams sounds better but i say 2018
Only Algeria from 2014 was good, maybe Ghana too, but they only got 1 point but in a tough group but i say 2018.

    Europe
    2014
    Italy, The Netherlands, Greece, Bosnia

    2018
    Poland, Denmark, Iceland, Serbia, Sweden

Well maybe here too, 2014 looks better on paper with Italy and the netherlands, but Italy out in the group stage again. = Poland replace them
I dont know but that Netherand team never impressed me even if they reached the semi final. = maybe Denmark
Greece and Bosnia = Sweden and Serbia here

Maybe same same here with these teams but the others europe team that qualifed 2014 is better now. So 2018 win

and the last ones, but just 1-2 teams

    2014
    Chile, Ecuador, USA, Honduras

    2018

Saudiarabia, Panama, Peru, and one more team from europe, Iceland

    2014 win here
    but
Chile 2014 - Peru = i dont know, i say same same, maybe Chile
Iceland - Ecuador 2014 = maybe i should not take those 2 teams against each other, but i say iceland here
Honduras 2014 - Panama = i say same same, i have asked who would win and some say Panamaand others say same same
US - Saudi = again maybe wrong teams against each other but i say US here.

    But overall 2018 better
JUST SPECUALTION, JUST FOR FUN :) :) :)

Any WC updates on the African sides?

Roster turnovers? Injuries? New staff? Viable dual nationals? Anything?

Khedira turned down to play for Tunisia.
And Fousseny Coulibaly is not gonna play for Tunisia either.

Speaking of binationauxs. Issa Diop of Toulouse has been approached by both Senegal(father) and Morocco(mother). The promising French Youth International said he won't make a decision before the Summer.

Interesting to note that his grandfather was the first Senegalese player in Ligue 1.

    Why after the summer?
No chance he can be in one of the two squad to world cup?

Probably holding out hope for Les Bleus. He's one of the more promising defenders in Ligue Un.

Yup. I loved the mystique behind it. Big ASEC fan so its only appropriate that I follow Les Elephanes.

That's my main surprise. Maybe he's injured or something? The mammoth striker Simmy gets a surprise call up due to his recent Serie A form as does Lokosa.

A shame Samuel Kalu or Henry Onyekuru missed out though...

I have a relatively good feeling about this World Cup, but it's all up in the air. But no team is out of it. Even Tunisia, albeit their chances still seem the slimmest.

A Salah-less Egypt is pretty out of it to me.

Salah was the reason I didn't want Liverpool to make it far into the Champions League as I wanted him to be healthy for the World Cup. It would be really unfortunate if Egypt have to play in the World Cup without him.
