Eder Balanta is eligible. There's also a few other players playing in Argentina that could contribute. I just hope we have a good manager.
Totally missed that..... he was born in 1993 when I looked at our wiki page Would you guys waste one of the Over 23 players to bring Ospina or Vargas to the Olympics considering they will play against Portugal, Brazil, Argentina and Germany potentially? Bonilla is pretty good and so are the Cali GKs as well as our current U20 GK. Just seems too much to go against a Messi, Mueller & Germany or CR7
The Euro teams usually don't send good Over-age players to these tournaments since they are focused on the Euros that Summer. When pertaining to the GK situation Bonilla and Montero can be good enough. I just want to focus on the CONCACAF playoff first. Then talk about Over-age players.
Don't know. Honduras or Costa Rica? USA or Mexico if they underachieve? The CONCACAF Sub23 is in the Fall.
Confirmaron al Piscis como tecnico de la seleccion sub 23 preolimpica Now I shall wait for Crazy rant
haha guess I will never see our NT at the Olympics haha. Colombian federation are a mafia. How this asshole wasn't fired after the U20 WC now he gets to coach the team to failure haha. IF we get eliminated I bet he will continue to be the U20 Coach
This is like the worst possible news ever.. .. .yet it was expected. The Playoff against the CONCACAF team is on a FIFA day and Pekerman will be busy with the Senior team priorities. Restrepo knows all these kids. But his tactics, style and personality/demeanor are just so horrible. We have so much talent to choose from though so we SHOULD go through. That said, it would not shock me to lose to a team like Panama or Honduras managed by Bolillo or Pinto. (YEs, I just typed that.)
I don't know about that. Maybe an argument could be made that he deserves to keep his job as a SUB 20 manager (MAYBE). But essentially a promotion as the Olympic SUB 23 manager? I don't think he deserves it. Obviously the Federation thinks differently.
he earn it, by finishing 2nd in the sudamericano, thats a fact. Do I think that he is the best option? Obviously no....
He obviously deserves a place on the staff since he knows the players better, but he shouldn't be the head coach. Guy does not know how to manage players.
I don't know if finishing second in the sudamericano is justification enough to promote him and provide him with an even greater responsibility. But as I alluded to, he does know the last two Sub 20 teams better than anyone which gives him the upper hand apparently. And I have no idea if anyone else wanted this job. So I will just hope for the best but expect the worst.
We all have to just hope JuanFer is healthy and in good form. He could make Restrepo look like a genius again. I will cling to that and the other talented players as my only source of optimism.
Quintero counts as over 23? If so, I'd take him, Jackson, and Ospina If not, I'd take James, Jackson, and Ospina
Only in the Olympics. Even with a better coach didn't Mexico win gold last time? Playing their u23 will be very difficult. I have no clue who half the guys goal.com mentioned other then half of Dep Cali. At that point why didn't we just get dept Cali coach to coach this team or Rueda who coached our SNT and has taken 2 teams to a WC Or shit Suarez who also went to two WCs as well. Any one but Restrepo. Hell I think I prefer Bolillo to that asshole. Bolillo at least has a crazy amount of luck
Is not a "promotion" nobody is awarding him anything, to play the Olimpics you need to qualify for them, which he did. I believe that was the legal reason why he was choosen for this tournament. Now deciding if he is a bad option or we should have somebody instead is a different argument, which the fed have the right to change the coach if they dont feel pisis is the right guy for the job. But that doesnt change the fact that you deserve to play the tournament that you originally qualified for
Sub 23 is a step up from the Sub 20. That is a promotion being rewarded. Just because they qualified via the Sub 20 under him does not mean he deserves to be the manager of the Sub 23. But obviously the Federation disagrees with me.
thats not a promotion dude, is like you play the qualifiers therefore you deserve to play the world cup, simple as that. And once again, I want to make this clear. The fact that he deserves to play this tournament doesnt make it the best option, but thats a different argument... We like it or not, he did qualified for that tournament, he earn the right to play the tournament, that wasnt given or some sorth of promotion or award
You are wrong. Just because you qualify a team does not mean you automatically deserve to manage a Higher division. I have seen managers get fired or released in club soccer even though their team got promoted. Sure, it made him the lead candidate but that is a different argument than saying he deserved the job. If he would have lost all three Group matches in the Sub 20 World Cup and gotten fired would he still have deserved to manage the Sub 23 cause he qualified them to it? No . That makes absolutely no sense.
