    QUOTES

    Rodolfo D'Onofrio:

("The plan is to maintain the current squad. If multi-million dollar offers arrive, it will be difficult to retain the players because River can't offer them the same contracts.")

    Andres Ballotta (club treasurer):

("In our budget for this year we are expecting to sell for $6,000,000 dollars and incorporate players for $4,000,000. River's finances are truly handled with organization and anticipation.")

    Rodolfo D'Onofrio regarding Teo:

("I don't see a reason why Teo wouldn't stay. He's on a contract, and his love for River and its fans is notable."
"Teo's case isn't about money, but about the coin which he wants to earn his salary in, which he won't be able to. It's part of a game, he likes to play. That's why I think Teo will stay. Besides, we fixed a lot of the problems he previously had, some from the past management.")

    Marcelo Gallardo regarding Aimar:

("I have a lot of respect for Aimar. He still hasn't sat down to talk with us, but we will do so in the next days. He will see if he is in good shape and can perform at his best. We hope he can join us.")

("I would love to play in River, it would be a dream come true for me. To be playing with 60,000 people cheering you on must be insane... River is a team that plays good football, that has top level player and I dream of playing there... Huracan's president told me a few months ago that he wouldn't block my departure if we reached our objectives, and I would like to transfer because I am ready for the next step. I have already given a lot to this team.)

    Jose Luraschi (Kranevitter's agent):

("Kranevitter has received offers from Italy, but they also want him in Spain, Portugal, and England. The teams that want him have to be top tier, because the value of the player is high.")

    Lionel Vangioni

("I received an offer from Milan. The club has talked directly with the president... It's a team that I like. I think I could adapt well to the Italian league.")

    GONZALO MARTINEZ:
    -----------------------------------
Huracan wants to sell him abroad.
The player and his agent want him to play for River. Martinez is putting heavy pressure on the president to transfer him to River.
If River can't negotiate his arrival due to the high price (+/- $4.5 million), his agent will try to have an investment group buy him and loan him to River.

    AUGUSTO BATALLA
    -----------------------------------
Real Madrid contacted the Batalla's agent in an attempt to reach an agreement regarding his arrival to the Spanish side. River does NOT want to sell the young goalkeeper, but if HE wishes to leave they will attempt to negotiate his transfer in order to not give him away.

    LEANDRO GONZALEZ PIREZ
    -----------------------------------
When it seemed he had everything set to join Universitario on loan, he will now terminate his contract with River and join Tigre as a free agent.

    LUCAS ALBERTENGO
    -----------------------------------
He is the forward that Francescoli likes. They will talk with his agent.

DELANTEROS DESCARTADOS (FORWARDS CROSSED OFF LIST)
    -----------------------------------
Boselli is out of the question because he wants to stay in Mexico, where, besides being the top scorer and star of the team, he earns a hefty contract. Cvitanich, if to return to Argentina, will only play in Boca or Banfield.

Thanks for the info... Why would any of the directors even think Cvitanich is an option... I know he wants to return to Argentina for his wife's (smoking hot wife a may add) work, but she, Cecilia Bonelli, is a well known die hard Boca fan and I don't see how she'd let him go to River, not to mention Cvitanich himself played for Boca, even though there is a rumor he was a River fan as a kid, those feeling don't mean anything since he put on the bosta shirt.

Hopefully something can be worked out with Pity Martinez soon, we need to get transfers done early for once and once you get one guy, it normally becomes easier to bring in others.

Re Gonzalez Pirez... Well Tigre now is one of the favores to descend even in the 30 team league... Sorry @SupaMario Mario, you're team is in for maybe the worst defender ever, Penalez Pirez

    LUIS "LUCHO" GONZALEZ
    -----------------------------------
"There are no chances of him returning to Argentina in January," his agent Federico Simonian told "River Instante." "He is staying in Qatar at least until June."

    -----------------------------------
"Pity Martinez is a player that we've always liked, and Gallardo likes him" - Rodolfo D'Onofrio

    ALVARO PEREIRA
    -----------------------------------
"Álvaro Pereira is not in our plans at the moment" - D'Onofrio

    TEOFILO GUTIERREZ

    -----------------------------------
"At my age, taking the next step is important. I have already stated it in the past: it would be a delight for me to play in Europe, but today my mind is on River. If an there's an interested party, they'll have to pay the transfer clause. ... I hope the board understands and everybody ends up happy." - Teo

In Brazil they have taken note of Teo's desire ($$) and have joined the battle to keep him. Fox Sports Brazil announced that Corinthians is considering Gutierrez as a possible replacement for Paolo Guerrero, their centerforward, who is about to leave the club.

    MATIAS KRANEVITTER

    -----------------------------------
The Tucuman native, who flew this week to Roma for the processing of his European Union passport, completed his objective. He now has one less obstacle in the way for a future transfer.

It is a given that the club will listen to offers for the young midfielder, although the plan is to transfer his after the Copa Libertadores. Some Italian teams have already declared their interest in the player, who published a photo today with the subtitle "Mission accomplished" after receiving his passport.

    JONATHAN MAIDANA

    -----------------------------------
An agreement has already been reached regarding the defender's contract renewal, according to Jorge Brito (vicepresident). He will be tied to the club until 2018. The only thing pending is his signature.

"We are working. I think we still have to resolve Rojas, Mercado, and Driussi's cases."

    GABRIEL MERCADO
    -----------------------------------
The ex-Estudiantes, who still hasn't renewed his contract with River, has received an offer to continue his career in Mexico.

    EMILIANO RIGONI
    -----------------------------------
The Belgrano midfielder (21 years old) is one of the options Gallardo is said to be considering as a possible reinforcement.

    NICOLAS BERTOLO
    -----------------------------------
San Lorenzo is a direct competitor in the battle to keep the Banfield midfielder.

    MILTON CASCO
    -----------------------------------
"He wants to go to Boca, not River," said his agent, therefore publicly confirming what was already known behind closed doors.

    -----------------------------------
Several clubs have asked about him, but no formal offers have been received. Yesterday the Portuguese press listed him as a possible reinforcement for Sporting Lisbon, but River's intention is to keep the defender.

    JAVIER SAVIOLA

    -----------------------------------
He has only played 177 minutes in total since his arrival to Hellas Verona, where he has scored one goal in the 5 games he's played. His minuscule participation is accelerating his exit, despite the fact that he still has six months remaining on his contact. Different Italian newspapers are stating that the forward will leave during this transfer season since he isn't in the coach Mandorlini's plans.

"Hellas Verona would not block his transfer," said journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who cosigned the possibility of el conejo returning to River.

Despite that, Diego Queiruga (Saviola's agent) has clarified that the forward doesn't plan on returning to Argentina since he wants to remain in Europe for at least six more months.

The reason? Saviola's wife is currently 8 months pregnant and the couple plans on staying in Italy for the baby's birth.

    EMILIANO RIGONI

    -----------------------------------
Rodolfo D'Onofrio has offered $2,000,000 dollars for the transfer of Rigoni, according to newspaper Dia a Dia.

"Belgrano is a club that sells players, but with certain conditions. We have a project and, besides, there is another thing: the more that he plays in Primera, the more he'll be worth. We put in a great effort to form him as a player and we still haven't been able to fully enjoy him," said Armando Perez, president of the Belgrano.

    PABLO AIMAR
    -----------------------------------
"I had the possibility of speaking with Aimar. He has an immense level of quality, he is an excellent player, and he is very loved/respected in the football world," said Gallardo. ""He is making an effort to return to the pitch, and he will obviously have the doors open in the pre-season. I have told him personally that I would love to have him as a reinforcement for the Copa Libertadores next year, it would be a pleasure."

    JONATHAN MAIDANA
    -----------------------------------
"There are very small details to resolve. Once everything is set, he will sign," said Hernan Berman, agent of Maidana.

    SEBASTIAN DRIUSSI
    -----------------------------------
His agent is fighting for an increase in his salary, although only a few details are left to resolve before the U-20 NT youngster signs a new contact. "We already advanced plenty, there are only minimal differences," said Gustavo Pedrozo.

He's a brute with no technical ability or sense of positioning. His only idea of how to defend his to kick the opposition as hard as he can, and many teams it happens to be when they have the ball in the box. He gave away like 7 penalties in 32 games for river.

Like I said in the Sub 20 thread, you can't judge people in that age group. Pirez is big and strong so when he was bigger than everyone at the sub 20 level he could dominate physically without having to resort to thuggery. When he got to primera and faced forwards as big and as strong as him, the only way he could compete is with kicking people. Good luck with him at Tigre.

Here's how he lost us the superclasico in 2012

I don't know what to think about the Aimar situation. D'Onofrio and now Patanian have confirmed him as the first reinforcement, but they did the same thing 6 months ago. Until I see him in a River shirt training on January 4th I'm just not going to believe anything, but hopefully it works out

That penalty was a disaster and is what pretty much single-handedly cost Gonzalez Pirez his future in River, but remember, he had just turned 20 and was thrown in last minute by surprise into a Superclasico (Funes Mori suffered an injury and was replaced in the 4th minute of play)........ and, to top it off, his partner in the centerback duo that day was Jonathan Bottinelli (!!!) of all people. Not saying he couldn't have done better, but if it weren't for that penalty I don't know if he would be considered such a disaster by River fans.

In your defense, he didn't really prove himself during his short 6-month loans to Arsenal and that Belgian club Genk, but remember Orban left in similar conditions -- once considered a big prospect, he left River through the back door only to became a star for Tigre.

I still think he could be a decent centerback.. He clearly had no room in River with Pezzella, Maidana, Balanta, FM, etc., but in different times he would have definitely gotten another chance.

    GASPAR SERVIO

    -----------------------------------
Banfield's board of directives is no longer willing to deposit $250,000 for 50% of the transfer of the goalkeeper. His mistakes in the latter part of the tournament had a direct effect in their decision to not make a single payment for the transfer had been agreed six months ago.

He must return to River in 2015, although he is rumored to be wanted by Instituto and Sarmiento for next season.

    -----------------------------------
River will ask for $6,000,000 for the transfer of the young centerback, who is being followed by Sporting Lisbon.

    NICOLAS BERTOLO

    -----------------------------------
River contacted Eduardo Spinosa (Banfield's president) to inquire about the winger's price, but Spinosa said they don't want to sell him in the local transfer market. Pretty lame when you consider how we gifted them Cazares (who, btw, is now rumored to be on Boca's radar )

Despite this, Banfield desperately needs to sell players to balance the club's finances. In July, Spinosa had said "in the case that he (Bertolo) continues at the club, it will only be for six more months."... Will he join River?

    NICOLAS TAGLIAFICO
    -----------------------------------
River asked about the leftback, but his arrival is practically discarded due to his high cost ($3,500,000). His future will most likely be in Europe. Gustavo Toledo, also wanted by Boca, is an alternative.

    EMILIANO RIGONI
    -----------------------------------

The incompetence of some journalists is unreal. I was just listening to the radio, and this guy named Sebastian Srur, a river specific journalist for radio continental, just said this: "One of the names that is very close is Alvaro Pereira, who has been on loan at Sao Paulo from Inter de Porto Alegre, the team of D'Alessandro where we know they are tough negotiators."

So anyone who has been following this situation knows that Pereira is owned by Inter de Italia not Brasil... Anyone can easily mistaken the to Inters, i've probably done it myself, but the fact that the guy then rambled on and talked about how he played with d'alessandro just shows that it wasn't just a brief mistake, but he actually believes he plays for Inter de Porto Alegre.

So if he doesn't even know what team the player is owned by, how can he possibly know if he's close to River or not?

I am also hearing Ayovi's name coming up again, but according to some sources i trust more than this Srur, its mainly being produced by the player's agent. doesn't mean it won't happen, but the player and his agent are much more interested in joining river than river is in signing him.

Theres a lot of smoke to cut through during these mercados between agents and journalists, sometimes i think its better just to not listen/read any of it, but that would take some serious dedication.

I read today that Luciano Abecasis will be opting out of his contract since he won't be part of Muñeco's plans. What happen to this guy? He was a promising player, I guess his time at Quilmes wasn't good?

It's strange, much more considering how one of River's priorities in this transfer market is bringing a fullback.

Didn't follow him at Quilmes, but I do know he got regular playing time. I would have given him a shot.. If anything, we could have just released him in June, but whatever

    RODRIGO MORA
    -----------------------------------
The forward has received offers from Mexico and Saudi Arabia, although the board plans on keeping him for next season.

    EZEQUIEL CIRIGLIANO

Bertolo??)

Ademas de Banfield, lo buscan de Independiente.
    -----------------------------------
Almeyda called Cirigliano, offering him a starting spot in Banfield. The midfielder knows that he is behind Kranevitter and Ponzio in the pecking order, reason for which he will speak with Gallardo on January 4th to define his future. In River they are considering the possibility of including him as part of a trade for another player (Tagliafico? Bertolo??)

Besides Banfield, he is wanted by Independiente.

    TEOFILO GUTIERREZ
    -----------------------------------
Teo's agent received an offer from Corinthians, but for now the colombian only plans on leaving River for a European team.

    EMILIANO RIGONI
    -----------------------------------
From the get-go Belgrano's president has shown no will to sell the midfielder, causing River's board to decide not to proceed with a formal negotiation in order to not lose time and instead focus on other possible reinforcements.

    TABARE VIUDEZ
    -----------------------------------
The Uruguayan will attempt to terminate his contract in Turkey and later decide in which team he will continue his career in. River and Nacional (URU) want him.

    LUIS VILA

In my opinion we shouldn't sell Cirigliano to Banfield unless the offer is great and involves Tagliafico. We have given away so many players, especially to Banfield... Juani, Servio, Domingo, etc... I think 4 of their normal starters are ex-River...

Not to mention Racing... The media wants to sell the that Milito was the hero, but it was really Bou, another guy we gifted.

We need to hold on to our players and be like these other local clubs. No sales to local teams if the offer isn't good. We are the biggest club in argentina and perhaps in all of america, and we need to push our weight around.

And also, why is there a limit of 4 foreigners? I find this stupid as shit. If we want to field a team of 11 foreigners, we should be able to. More, i don't get why Mora would count as a foreigner, a guy from Uruguay, a former province of argentina. Same with sanchez before he got his citizenship. I don't get the stupid rule

I don't get it either. Rule is there for clubs to not fill their rosters with foreign talent and entice them instead on focusing on improving their youth systems.

No offense to the Argentine guys, but no one is signing up in droves to be paid in argentine pesos. This type of rule is for the Euro and Mexico clubs who just solve their crappy clubs' performances easily just by signing a proven foreigner.

Argentine clubs already have one of the best soccer youth development systems and even if the rule didn't exist it wouldn't make financial sense to sign someone else abroad when you got loads of talented young argentines

    So yeah...dumb rule.

Also I'd rather we give Ponzio to Banfield. Since he was good under Almeyda and I'd rather have Cirigliano in case he returns to badass form and we make a nice change selling Krane or Ciri to Europe.

Plus the whole match-fixing thing might be a distraction.

Droop dog you al spart on, but the problem even though our currency is a joke, to other southamericans going to play in Argentina is a big deal. I know many uruguayan people, and even they won't admit it, they love river/boca more than nacional/penadoy.... River is huge in Uruguay, we have a few fan clubs over there and more being river is what matters. They want us. And we need them. I hope River continues beeing the biggest team in America

Yeah, well its also not like anywhere but Mexico and Brazil, can offer you better money. Look at Colombia, Atletico Nacional made 54 billion pesos in ticket sales for the final against River, and it ended up being not even 600 thousand dollars. I dont think any South American country, Brazil included can offer a player the prestige, good enough quality of life(especially in BA), and good enough salary that playing at a club like River can. River and Boca have money, I dont know about the rest of them though.

    -----------------------------------
Besides River, Estudiantes is interested in the Uruguayan. For now, neither of the two teams have begun negotiations for him, although his agent has admitted that he would like to return to the Argentine league.

"It makes me proud to be followed by such a big team like River. Either way, my transfer rights belong to Inter Milan and I haven't received a formal offer to play in Argentina yet. My agent is in charge of that. To reach an agreement, they must talk directly with Inter," said the player.

"We attempted to buy him during the last transfer market, and now we're back again. We've made a very good offer" - Rodolfo D'Onofrio

River offered approximately $3,000,000, but Huracan wants $4,000,000. The player's agent is confident that the transfer could go through.

Rolfi Montenegro just got released by Independiente. I know he is old, but he was damn good for them last season, if he comes for free, why not? He's also a sure thing, we would know exactly what we're getting unlike with Pity Martinez, who is a promise more than anything and we're overpaying for greatly.

Doubt it would happen, but I'd take a shot on Rolfi
