i think you'll find we love the FA as we are still in the premiership.

alright it isn't maidstone, i have met a palace fan and he hates charlton .
so i would rate the addicks or the valiants (as they used to be called) rivals as ,
    1. crystal palace
    2.millwall
    3.gillingham
    and maybe west ham.

although i don't think any west ham fan would put charlton in their top ten rivals.

    I'd say that's a fair assessment of Charlton's rivals.

Great stuff, thanks a lot guys. I always thought Brighton were Palace's #1 rival and Millwall's were anyone not Millwall. But I guess those are the two closest clubs to Charlton.

in other cities where there are two main clubs the rivals are more clear cut
but in london with many teams there's a big difference to who one team thinks who is their main rivals and what that other team thinks.

charlton's rivals would be palace and millwall, whereas palace's main rivals would be brighton.

millwalls main rival would be west ham and equally west hams would be millwall.although the rivalry heightend during the years of football violence,it really started (i think between the wars ) when the docks where the millwall fans worked broke a strike called for by the dock where west ham fans worked.
many west ham fans consider spurs now as their main rivals, because we can see arsenal racing away from them and like to think of ourselves as catching them up. but of course ask any spud and they will say arsenal.

    Indeed.

Whenever I've been on a Charlton forum it's Palace that gets most of the hate.

There's no love lost between any London team though ;)
