Fantastic interview with Carlos Alomar http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/998-what-its-like-to-play-guitar-with-david-bowie/
Can I help out? I know this is easy pickings for Bowficionados, but this version has Gail Dorsey giving the bass line a bit of a different twist. And I never would have thought her legs would be that skinny. Eat, woman...
I think I could have gone a long time without seeing that video. I Got You is a great little pop song, but Bowie and Faithful have really freighted this cover with, with, with, I dunno, shit. And those costumes. Geeze. I wish I had found this cover 4 years ago. My daughter, inexplicably, developed a taste for English disco. I think it started with the Bay City Rollers song in Love, Actually but I was trying to explain to her where disco came from. And this video would have explained a lot....
I don't know much about her other than a widely-reported story involving her, Mick Jagger and a Snickers bar. By now I should be more familiar with her music, but I'm not. "S-s-s-Saturday niii-hiiiiiiiiight..." <Doctor looks at chart> Oh, that's bad. Really bad. And I did not know they were a UK band, always thought they were from San Francisco ("Bay City"). Score for the Yanks... Hold up... where DID disco come from? Bowie had something to do with it? I lived thru it as best I could, back when everything the Bee Gees and Donna Summer touched turned to gold, but where I grew up, every party was called a disco ("Steve's having a disco at his house Saturday"), but no "disco" was played.
The bass line on this song helped loosen the screws on the sideview mirrors of my first car back in '83.
