It was definitely only the sideline earlier in the year, they've added the pieces that extend around the endline recently.
Not to mention when the Predator add comes up, I have a strange feeling of being watched...by something hungry.
I wouldn't call him that until he installs pylons that block half the field while still charging a premium for the seat.
That's a bit mean spirited of a comparison - especially when Del Loy's reference is to the 49ers new stadium display. So with this Paul Bunyan size video board - does RSL get to also claim downtown SLC residents as 'viewers'?
seriously - you can already see the stadium from I-15. With this, can you just pull off around 90th and watch? Side note: don't pull off to the side on I-15
The new board will be sweet for those of us on the north side. Those poor suckers in, like, Section 14, will be craning their necks to take in the wonderment.
Just noticed that while the biggest in MLS, the proposed size is slightly smaller than DLH's original hints. Instead of 5600 sq feet, today's news is indicating 4200 sq feet. Still good sized, but in the 60s in worldwide rank rather than low 40s. I'm guessing the $$ were a bit bigger than DLH wanted. Sounds awesome despite the slight shrinkage.
It'll be the 56th largest video screen in the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_video_screens
Well, I didn't mean it as such. From the size description, it sounded like Rio Tinto would go from a stadium with a display to a display with a stadium, kind of like Texas Stadium (or whatever they are calling that place).
Maybe they'll start handing out sunscreen samples to make sure the folks in the south end don't get too burned by exposure.
My suggestions: 1) Complete the concourse around the full stadium (across the South end). You could sell advertising for the fitness track down the center. Most importantly the East side entering fans won't have to go down then up stairs. Also better concession access. 2) Full fiber optic with additional wireless for the TV production crews. they could do all the work in a studio located anywhere. 3) More cool water drinking fountains with bottle fill ups. 4) Additional power outlets along field wall. 5) Reconfigure the premium seats/tunnel access to 100 Lions club allowing for really nice seating for the teams.
I think you could do No.5 without any real change to the seating. At least get some nice benches like some other MLS teams I've seen. I hope that No. 1 would be done after next season.
There's absolutely no way RSL is changing the Lions Club in any way, shape, or form. Season tickets for that area costs thousands of dollars, it's a definite money-maker for the club and they wouldn't sacrifice any of those seats for the players to have a comfy chair to watch the game from. I still think the team should do regressed benches, sort of like dugouts which a lot of stadiums use. The channels to the left and right of the tunnel would work just fine.
So DLH went from wanting the smaller one, to wanting the bigger one and back to wanting the smaller one? Either way, after the Colorado game I think any of them are going to be too big. At first I thought it would be cool but sitting in Sec 35 looking south is just going to be a huge distraction. But at the same time now I'm kind of bummed, if you're going to put one in put in the big one, especially after bragging about it.
