VS The first ever Richmond derby!! All the trash talking stops here. It's been about a year or more in the making. Whether it was random or not this match up needed to happen. Richmond Kickers (Regular season champions of the USL) vs RVA FC (Champions of the NPSL). It needs to be said that the fact that both teams feature many local players and are champions of their respectable leagues says something about soccer in the VA. RVA FC is on their off season but have had a few summer practices. Richmond Kickers season is in full swing. They came off a dominate performance against Arizona even if they were playing a man up most of the game. Should be interesting to see if there's any rust for RVA FC. This is a road game for the Kickers however expect a very divided crowd on Tuesday night. The River City Red Army is expected to begin their march to Sportsbacker from Hardywood between 6-6:30 from the latest update. US soccer has made this the game to watch from the 2nd round and will broadcast the game on their site for those who can't make it.
I'm thinking/expecting to field a team without any DC guys in this round. Looking ahead to the midwest trip, I think we see a combo lineup of regulars and reserves. Taylor Lee-Johnson-Roberts-Gorres Asante-Vercollone Arbalaez-Spitz Yeisley-Hanley With Deli and GDIV available in case we need a goal, Callahan and Yomby there to help shore up the defense if necessary
