Toronto tops the East, with only one loss this season. Both teams played mid week. We'll be without Kouassi. If the Revs bring the attitude they had Wednesday, we could scramble to a point (or three, if we get a bit of luck).
If we're not going to win on the road, we need to win this game especially with the absences TFC is going to have to deal with. From TFC's game preview - Jozy Altidore (int’l duty), Michael Bradley (int’l duty), and Marky Delagdo (red card suspension) will not be available for Saturday’s match https://www.torontofc.ca/post/2017/06/01/tfc-hq-keys-match-june-1-2017?autoplay=true Giovinco returned from injury in their Canadian Championship game against Ottawa, playing 45 minutes.
Tosaint Ricketts came off injured as well. However Giovinco with Jordan Hamilton or Endoh would still be a handful for any back line.
Draws have been the bane of New England's season so far, but I'll take one here, given how well Toronto has been playing. They've only lost one game all year.
In the first 4 mins. Kamara shows that he's still working on his Lurch routine. Persistant squander...
I have been to soccer events sponsored by adidas or Nike and there are strict rules on what you can and cannot wear. MLS is an adidas sponsored league....why is Heaps wearing a Nike sweater?
That was a listless performance by Toronto, so good on New England for punishing them. Fagundez has been a force this year. I know there was talk last year about Heaps having stunted his development, but I think we can put that talk to bed.
I wonder why Diego never seems to be in the conversation for the USMNT....Yes, I know he played at youth levels for Paraguay...but I don't believe he is yet cap-tied to that nation. He just keeps getting better and better.
He played for U-20 Uruguay, but I don't think it cap-tied him. It's great to see him start to come into his own, it feels like its been waiting to happen for his whole career.
Good win by the revs last night. TFC was without Altidore and Bradley and it showed. When TFC hit 2 posts that was the luck the revs needed as it would have been a very different game if one or both had gone in. That said, Heaps got the tactics right. They kept Giovinco quiet and were able to find gaps in TFC's back 3. Need to keep teams pinned back as much as possible. With the woeful road form, to have any chance at the playoffs, the revs need to keep getting the full 3 points at home. I agree with others that it was a good team performance and an important 3 points. The revs are 5-5-5 now; this upcoming stretch is important and will have a lot of bearing on where they end up come the fall. With Kouassi's injury keeping him out 4-6 weeks, it's a good thing Koffie came back because he's going to have a big role to play in the midfield.
Wonderful team win against a short-handed squad. We've blown those games before, so I'll happily take it.
Even though he's lived most, if not all, his life in the USA. At some point he has to accept the fact that he is American. Reminds me of a certain "Italian" player from New Jersey that also had high hopes that never worked out.
Regardless of how you feel someone should act, as noted above, he's not a citizen yet so it's currently irrelevant.
The Bent Musket discussed this in January 2015. I think that because he played in an official competition for Uruguay at a time when he did not have US Citizenship the result is that he cannot apply for the one time switch because he only had one option when he played for Uruguay. In contrast, Jones and others who have one US parent and one non US parent did in fact have two options whenever they played their first official game.
He might, but it's his choice. There are plenty of ex-pats around the world who would never renounce their "American-ness."
