So, with Tierney on season-ending IR, the Revs have six open roster slots, including 2 DP and 1 International. If Burns doesn't fill at least 3 this summer, he should be fired immediately.
32 is getting a bit long for a fullback, but he still gets consistent minutes for a middle table premiership side. I would be more excited by a big signing to bolster the attack, but all 10 field positions with the exceptions of CDM (Caicedo) and Wing (Penilla) could use an upgrade
For sure, but I'm really encouraged by the play of Dielna the last 2 MLS games. I'd like to see him continue there, add depth at the position and use our biggest assets for attacking positions. I also think Agudelo and Nemeth are both not good matches for the way we are using them. Not sure what the solution for that is ... trade?
I think Agudelo is a great match. Nemeth I think would clearly be more valuable to a different team. I agree re: Dielna - we already have a good left back who has the added benefit of being able to cover at center back if needed. I still think we should target a left back, but it should be someone young, cheap and with upside for future seasons (since Dielna is 30).
I am increasingly worried about Farrell's game. Many (it felt like almost all to me) of his touches in this weekend's game seemed to end up in a misplay - multiple unforced errors playing it forward, blind/undirected upfield hacks, or dribbling into a 3-defender-quagmire. There seems to be a deep mental funk happening.
The unnamed side’s interest in Rowe comes roughly one year after the Revolution rejected a $1 million offer for Lee Nguyen from Maccabi Haifa, also a team in the Israeli Premier League. The Revs have since traded Nguyen to Los Angeles FC. So we turn down $1 million for Lee only to trade him for $750K ... brilliant.... glad Burns isn't in N. Korea. Now we have nibbles on Rowe. Lets hope nothing comes of this one. We already have no depth... multiple open spots and other spots occupied by useless players. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO TRADE AWAY MORE USEFUL PLAYERS AT THIS POINT UNTIL WE SIGN OTHER USEFUL PLAYERS. Lee has been starting the last two games for LA and what do we have? We have a pile of allocation money in place of a great player and nobody that can drive an attack. That money doesnt help us very much
Please stop beating the dead horse named Lee Nguyen. Do you seriously think the Revolution would be better off having a disgruntled Lee Nguyen on the roster? Do you honestly see Lee Nguyen as a good fit for the style of play that the Revolution play now? Lee Nguyen is gone. He won't be back. Can we move on?
He looked a lot more comfortable as the RCB in a 4 man back line. The problem is, no one else on the team is capable enough at RFB to let him move more inside.
That would've been $1M to MLS, not $1M to the Revs. I don't know the current deal, but the Revs would only get a portion of it. Your timing is off - it's too soon (Lee has how many goals so far?). If the Revs don't spend the money and make some acquisitions this summer, you'll have a good point, but now is not the right time.
And the roster "depth" continues to dwindle. And no, I'm not saying this is a bad move to get the kid some seasoning. 🙌 Good luck, Nico!! https://t.co/Ug4sgUJN2O— New England Revolution (@NERevolution) June 11, 2018
Didn't catch it the first time I saw this, but the deal is already dead: MLS article, but basically just a link to the above. Report: Israeli team looks at New England MF Kelyn Rowe but no offer made June 12, 2018, 1:48PM EDT Dave Zeitlin
Reports: Peruvian FW Raul Ruidiaz set for move from Monarcas to Seattle June 7, 2018, 2:05PM EDT Ian Quillen Article says Seattle is out of international slots, and might trade someone to free one up. Just spit-balling here, looking at Seattle's internationals. Kelvin Leerdam is a right back. He's been subbed out of their last two games. Makes $500K. Seattle still probably wouldn't part with him, but one can dream...
Summer Transfer Window opens 3 weeks from today (July 10th). I'm sure Burns is pushing the Gillette WiFi to the limit scouting on YouTube...
Good news, I'm happy for the kid, but I'm afraid we have our "summer signing"... Sidelined since preseason, Angking nearing a return: “We hope to see him back soon” June 27, 2018, 9:25AM EDT Jeff Lemieux
