Not that it matters, but do we know which side initiated this move? I would not be surprised at all if Koffie asked his agent to explore this move. He wants playing time. I am glad that he is back.

Also, I have been waiting for somebody to say "The replacement for Koffie is Koffie" :)

Let's also note that this is a player who appears to have wanted to come back to New England.

And he's worked for the Krafts before, the most important qualification.

And now Zachary Herivaux is back from loan so that makes 5 DMs and 3AMs

Maybe Burns is trying to corner the market.

Herivaux played wing in a 4-2-3-1 for San Antonio, so maybe we'll see him line up as a shuttler in the diamond.

Honestly this kid needs a season long lone. His progress is being stalled by not first team minutes. This kid will be 21 years old and can't get any minutes. By the time he is 24 he will be known as a never was. Any Revs academy player would be stupid to sign a Home Grown contract unless they go the route Caldwell did. Unless you can get something in the contact to force a loan based on lack of minutes with the first team College is a better option than signing a HGC as a 17 or 18 year old. I know someone will throw Fagundez out there but he is the exception not the rule

Possible but that is still playing a player out of their natural position.

I have been remiss in my DM count because I think Watson's best position is DM. That makes 6 which is almost 30% of the roster.

I also agree that Herivaux needs to play. So does Donny Smith. This teams needs a legit LOCAL USL team.

Since the Revs have one homegrown player who went to college and one who went straight to the pros, I don't think there's really any rule at all.
If there's any rule Herivaux was following it was that homegrown signings get a real chance to compete for a starting spot. I think.

Kind of odd. Scott's timeline not filled with "kidding" items.

Yeah, weird. I don't doubt that it's not true, but I do doubt his explanation.

Well, kidding or duped, whenever a big-name player is linked with "the MLS," it is almost never going to be the Revs.

Some talk on these boards from time to time about how Scott Caldwell's role at Akron included a heavy emphasis on playmaking/attacking responsibilities, certainly more than is required of him with the Revs.

With the recent glut of Dmid players, does that allow Scott to contribute more offensively - perhaps further up the midfield?

In an attempt to understand it better, I tried to track down any video highlights of Scott while playing at Akron. However, most I located were of a single-goal duration, so I was unable to get a look at him in, or controlling, the flow for the Zips.

Does anyone have a link to any such video?

This should be interesting. I hope they can add a couple of hihg-end guys to the roster, the kind of guys who can immediately step into a starting role and be among the better players in the league at their positions. In other words, a left back at the level of Kouassi or Delamea.

But I would also like to see them add other players, regardless if the primary signings come through or not. I'm talking about the "solid MLS veteran" type, a guy who might not be a top player, but would certainly be good enough to get significant minutes either as a spot starter (Open Cup run) or as a strategic sub who can do more that just offer fresh legs.

Now that they have gone on the record about their intentions, the pressure (as much as it can be) is on them to show some results. None of this "wail, we tried, but it's really hard to bring in the kind of players we really want--we're not just going to sign anyone." Meanwhile, the 6 empty roster spots are collecting dust....

BB also said they expected to sign 3-5 TAM level players in the off-season ... so there's that...

I never thought I'd be longing for the days when the Revs only had 3-4 empty roster spots...

From what I seem to gather from Monty's (I think?) post about his conversation with BB, the Revs are making offers and are getting rejected. For all we know, they are asking the right high level guys.

But because the Revs as a whole are not as attractive as other teams (around the globe for all the reasons we have beaten like a dead horse) and what may still be some past history of "negative taste" of dealing with players/agents - they are not making progress.

That means they have to look for diamonds in the rough (which they are hit or miss at and what takes a lot of energy/expense/time), or guys looking for a second chance.

Or they got to PAY the right high level player the Money - but they need to be like Villa or Keane and not Matthaus. And they seem to be very gun-shy about anything like that - which is why I am so surprised they jumped so fast at someone that really wasn't that proven: Kamara.

Which keeps them falling behind...because it takes them way longer than other teams in that process.
