Cash, draft picks? What do we ever get for anybody that translates to a player for the field. There is nothing we could get in a trade that would replace what Lee brings. Draft picks or cash are useless

Hope it's the latter. He's got some value in the league. It would be perfect if we could get Dallas or someone to send back a younger Amid.

OK, so assuming the 3 draft picks fill out the Supplemental/Protected/Off-Budget roster (or whatever they are calling it this year), that still leaves 7 open spots on the Senior Roster.

Brad said there is a signing on the way that will make us all giddy as school girls. that leaves 6 of Burns doesn't screw this signing up. I have to think they are trying to make one more signing before May as well as bringing in Trialists for camp

Article suggesting revs had a successful draft by stocking up on young defenders, with the late round Samayoa pick noted as a "potential diamond in the rough". Although we should take this with a pinch of salt because they put Femi and Josh Smith (option declined) in the successful category when neither player has done a whole lot in MLS beyond scattered appearances. In fact Smith logged more minutes in his 6 appearances in 2017 (539 minutes) than Femi has in his career (421 minutes in 32 games).

But if there is a coherent strategy behind stocking up on the defense, I like it. When it comes to to development, make so, Brad.

The thing with draft ratings is that there develops a consensus on player rankings among the media, so if teams have their own valuations that differ, they will get rated poorly.

Presumably they could have gotten their 1st round picks in the 2nd round, but they didn't have 2nd round picks. Theoretically they could have traded back, but the MLS draft doesn't really same to have the same fluidity as some others (like the NFL, for example). They probably could have collected some MLS 'currency' for swapping, but I suspect if they had done that, most of us would be condemning that up and down.

I mentioned earlier, and still think, that they drafted these guys for their athleticism and skills, not necessarily for their specific position - and could have them backing up multiple positions, while giving them time to develop and find out what their best positions might ultimately be.

Bye, for example, sounds to me like a Bunbury kind of prospect - great speed and size, able to score goals with athleticism, more than ball skills. And, Bunbury's been used at forward and wing, and a lot of us in this group have wondered about him playing fullback (I personally don't think he has the commitment to shutdown defending, but he probably has the physical ability to do it).

Segbers sounds like someone who is more likely to find a spot on the wing IF he shows he has the ball skills to be an MLS attacker.

Would there still be room for Koffie in the roster in your view or do you see Zahibo as a successor? He still appears to be MIA from Sweden.

MLS article on the Revs team building.

Burns mentions that he's hoping to get to around 28 players on the roster.

“We’re in a different bucket now in terms of the players we can attract and bring in, especially on the international market,” Burns said. “A few years ago, we weren’t able to do that.”

This intrigued me. What is the different bucket now - and why a few years ago they were not able to attract/bring in? Does he just mean the higher TAM? Has Kraft changed? Heaps gone? Combination of everything?

I hope to win the lottery but doesn't mean I will. If Burns signs 28 I'll be shocked.

This is typical Burns preseason talk. Then it will be... need the right mix .... followed by the summer window followed by something else

    Another addition is official.

Ecuadorian Cristian Penilla, 26. Last playing on loan for Chapecoense (Brazil) on loan from Pachuca.

Wow, a Krisztian and now a Cristian on the attacking front. Nicknames needed stat.

Assuming this is the attacking player Friedel was referring to? Certainly has lots of experience throughout Latin America. Question for me is, are the Revs finally ready to really embrace LA players and style?

This should push Agudelo for minutes, and helps create competition for all the attacking positions - wings, amid, forwards.

Considering the Revs have been running around 23-25 the past few seasons, I'd be THRILLED with 28.

But, like you, I doubt Burns' ability to pull that off.

Wow - and Chapecoense were the team affected by the air crash, right?

    Loan is interesting.

On the surface, I would say good signing!

Is this the "very exciting attacking player ... He's a player the fans and players will be very happy to see involved."?

Agudelo has been inconsistent with his play and if he does not stay focused he could be third man behind Nemeth and Penilla should Brad use Penilla as a forward.

A guy who hasn't scored a single goal for the last two clubs he played for?

But maybe he's not actually a forward.

Still not the "eyebrow-raising" player everyone is looking for but I am okay with this one. Young, played in good leagues with decent teams.
