Parking it in the center of the field, it'd likely be more effective at defense than Gio because the clock is right twice a day or something like that...

I would also take Pirlo’s wheelchair over Gio.

Watching the WC final today and seeing Modric play made me think about how long it’s been since the Galaxy had a maestro running the midfield like that.....

Mourinho after the San Jose game. He didn’t mean it the way I choose to interpret it.

I totally understand the special one what a shite time to be in NorCal when SoCal is the place to be, but the trolls up there need to see other super teams as well. They need an ass whooping from someone else other than us sometimes.

Mexico is really hiring Maradona? The Mexican FA might actually be less capable than the Galaxy FO

Random, but watching a BT stream of the Spurs match and their graphics overlay is so great. A tiny score, match clock in the lower left and a small translucent channel/sponsor bug in the lower right and no obtrusive in game ads that take up a third of the screen.

Amateurs! They're stuck in the 1990s with their focus on viewer experience!

Get with the 21st Century and the "viewers-as-product" concept!!

Going off topic and I know I am a get off my lawn curmudgeon, but I do notice that my millennium daughters and their friends are more willing to put up with crappy product than I am. My pet peeve and example is listening to terrible quality music on laptop or cellphone speakers or cheap ear buds. Ditto to watching movies on tiny screens. I think this extends to all types of products in our throw away society.

No. Unfortunately I just watched the Manchester derby.

City's third goal was simply sublime. The bastards.

I saw the replay of the goal (well the end of it, I think they said it came from a 40 pass sequence!) and it was pretty incredible.

Not to take away from City, but that Man U team looked like the Sigi LA Galaxy. Not pressing or closing down at all and making it way too easy for City to pass around. Like Sigi, it really looks like the team has quit on Mourinho.

So Pete Vagenas is now writing blogs under the nom de plume "Alan Dawson".

An idea he happened upon while watching "Titanic".

"Hang on! I could pretend MY name is Rose Dawson and start a whole new life for myself! ...But Rose is a girl's name. Tricky...".

I wonder how the writer got hold of Jovan's super-secret scouting list.

Hope they don't play it now. Unsafe for players and fans alike. Play it at a neutral venue next weekend.

Love passion but this is just downright stupid.

This was absolutely disgusting to see. Game has been postponed until tomorrow at 5 pm local time. They should have had also make River play in an empty stadium. The only way to make the fans behave like adults is to have serious consequences.

So Luka Modric becomes the first Ballon D'or winner since 2007 not named Ronaldo or Messi
    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46432933

It seems like an odd choice at first, but Modric probably has the best club and country resume this year. Griezmann would've been my candidate, as I thought he was better in the WC (and won it) and while he gets knocked down for not being a factor in Champions League, Atletico won Europa League with Griezmann taking top player awards.

Why would 2016 WC factor into 2018 Ballon D'or? I thought the award was for the worlds best player over the last year.
