The reason is right in tweet. Also he did start his career on loan in Reno. It should also boost attendance.
The reasoning just sounded a little lame when Partida is theoretically not on your permanent roster. Or is he?
Partida also grew up playing soccer in Sparks. He’s a home town hero. There are not a lot of Professional soccer players that grew up in Northern Nevada. Why not honor him in front of young kids from the next generation?
I don’t doubt Partida is a home town hero, and I didn’t mean to debate his bobblehead. Sorry about that!
Bersano, Partida and Rivas started. Bersano got the clean sheet and looked very good. We were quite happy to have him back in the net. Partida went 60 before being subbed out. Picked up a yellow card. He still appears to be getting in game shape and getting his timing back. He played at the bottom of the diamond Rivas was a mixed bag playing at the top of the diamond. Quite inconsistent even during the same game. Musovsky came in as a late game sub again. He and Apodaca should be getting some playing time with Brown having been called up to the Jamaican 40 man Gold Cup roster.
Score could have been as much as 7-0. There were a couple of scuffed shots that their keeper had to dive to save. LV is very bad on the road but a good team at home. They have not won on the road with all but one being losses. Most of the losses have been by multiple goals. Their last two road losses were both 4-0. They have not lost at home with only one tie with most being multiple goal wins. They are a very Jekyll and Hide when it comes to home versus away.
Nice goal from #40 Raul Mendiola, also a secondary assist and he should have had another assist. He has the talent, if he can perform consistently he should have a shot at making the Quakes roster in 2020.

Because I subscribed to ESPN+, i’ve recently been checking out USL games. Two things really stand out for me: Almost nobody attends these games, or at least, no one sits on the side opposite the benches. It looks like 200 people are in the stands. In other words, they are about 5-10% of typical MLS small team attendance. A lot of young teenagers are playing in USL, 15-17 year olds.
Another shitty, tepid and limp road performance ending in a loss after a great start. Cowell and Bersano started. Aune and Galindo were on the bench and unused. Cowell scored and was subbed off at the half. He disappeared from the game when SA realized he is a teenager and marked him out of the game and off of the ball. Musovsky replaced him and did not distinguish himself positively. Showed a lot of rust and poor decision making on the ball. Bersano had to keep the SJ howler show going but had a good night otherwise. The defense did him no favors with their weak, slow and disinterested performance. Fuentes came on at 66' and was pretty much a non factor. His passing was as poor as the rest of the team.
With what appears to be terrible attendance in most USL stadiums, what is the media writing about the amount of money that USL owners are losing? I do see a lot of signboard sponsorships, which I presume would help a lot, and maybe they get some broadcast revenue from ESPN+, but definitely there isn't much ticket revenue, right?
San Antonio is averaging 6,352 this season at home, which is pretty damn good. USL Championship attendance is listed at 4,348, which is comparable to the 4th tier of English football, (League 2) at 4,467.
Nice 4-2 win. Bit of a struggle in the first half but the boys looked much better in the second. Bersano started, looked good, not much he could do with the well taken BS PK at the start of the game. Defense let him down on the second goal. Galindo Cruz got the start, made some very good plays. Looks comfortable beyond his years on the pitch. Rivas also got another start and looked good pushing the ball forward. Still makes some mistakes of dribbling into trouble in the midfield but was almost always aggressive moving the ball forward when the opportunity arose. Musovsky started, scored the second goal, could have had a couple more with a little bit of luck/better finishing. Subbed out at 61' for Apodaca. Apodaca scored the fourth goal and was very active on the pitch. Ball handling was a little sketchy though. Aune was an unused sub as has been the case most of the season since he moved to Reno. Next game Tuesday, at home, against conference leader Phoenix. With a wind Reno would move into second from current fourth, and would be tied on points with Phoenix and El Paso. It would take a six goal win for Reno to move into first.
He was not. Not sure he is even in Reno now. We have a game on Tuesday so if he is in Reno and not injured he might be playing. We had a picnic with the team Thursday night and he was not there.
He was at the Quakes Open Cup game so maybe he’s on the travel roster and needs to train with the first team. Was he playing at defensive mid in his Reno appearances? Or outside back?
Even though the Quakes played him at left back I felt his best position was always d-mid. Maybe he’ll play there in place of Godoy. I think a Yuiell-Partida center mid pairing could work well.
I think Partida is with the Quakes because of the limit on the number of international players allowed in the Open Cup. He is needed more there right now.
