Yes, he signed with Pune City. He reportedly is getting $120K and all other expenses paid for. SJ and Reno tried to sweeten the pot to keep him but could not match or change his mind.
We love this kit. It looks like it will be a very popular seller for the team. You will see a few on Feb 10.
Obviously would have been great to keep him. But the forward group appears to be deep and I expect the offense to be good again.
Agreed, SJ and Reno have done a great job of bringing in more talent. Bring on the season already. My understanding is that Russell has a well thought out system and really enjoys the offensive side of things.
While it would have been nice to get Dane Kelly a shot with the Quakes based on his performance in USL (he could've replaced Amarikwa on the roster), having him move to India for that kind of money is also a positive because it shows future batches of players what could happen if they do well in Reno.
Yeah but he was the league MVP while playing for Reno, and they set all kinds of offensive records. Obviously Kelly was a big part of that, but would he have done as well with the average USL team? It looks like he had 8 goals the previous season for Swope Park Rangers, that probably doesn't get him a $120k plus expenses contract with Pune City.
Yeah, but at the same time he came to Reno as the all-time USL scoring leader I think. So he already had some pretty significant street cred.
We don't know what sort of contract he could have received if his agent had shopped him overseas last year. Too many degrees of freedom to assume Reno was the secret sauce.
So you think last year his agent wasn't interested in getting his client the best possible contract , but that this year his agent was interested in doing so?
We don't know, do we? Maybe he wasn't ready to play abroad. Maybe after killing it yet again and not getting any play from the parent MLS club during the season he was ready to ply his trade elsewhere. Maybe he's now at a point in his life where he's willing to live in a foreign country for a few extra bucks. All things we do not know.
Yes, but he's lived / played in the U.S. for like 8 years. I'm sure he had reached a level of comfort about it. Playing in / living in India is a big change.

Anyone know if they will be streaming the game? Unfortunately I won't be able to make it but I'd like to watch it later....
I read a report that someone in Reno shot a man just to watch him die. I am almost certain that neither the shooter nor the victim is affiliated with the soccer team.
