This is like that Seinfeld where Elaine changed her phone number.

So, basically, @krudmonk's complaint is as follows:

    1. Reno 1868 is insufficiently European because it honors the city's founding, not the team's.

    2. Reno 1868 is insufficiently American because it's a variation on a European naming convention.

    Well, now I'm convinced.

Reno 1868 is a brilliant name for this team!

Insufficient? It's just a bit goofy. Reno 2017 will be fine regardless.

I've kept myself from voting. While I have an opinion on the name, it's not my place to decide. It's up to people in Reno for whom this will be their team.

You don't want to vote on the name of SRFC's future USL affiliate?

Woo! The unofficial RGJ poll is showing 1868 in a healthy lead as well!

And you can vote once daily in the official poll so get back out there and push 1868 to a commanding lead!

The official contest rules. But when I posted that on FB someone from the FO told me we can vote multiple times a day.

And that's how we know they've already chosen the name, and the vote is just for publicity.

I'll still vote once a day. :whistling:

It's quite possible. Also, check out this graphic they posted. I haven't seen special ones like this for the other choices.

Also all of the choices have been registered as websites

Indeed they did. But I was thinking of this one (that I didn't actually attach to the last message!)

Somebody put together a crest and kit concept. While I hate the name he used, it looks good. But the colors should be state flag colors and the stripes are already used as an identity in USL.

But Tesla should be the kit sponsor, 100%

EDIT: Where does everybody make the kit concepts? The graphics are all similar, like there's a "build a kit" website out there with templates.

Nice Kits, bad crest. Love the third jersey. Maybe doing a dominant white home jersey with Silver striping and blue highlights would be a good look?

A pink third would be cool, love pink as a soccer color. But hints from the FO indicate it might be state flag colors (royal or navy, white, gold, maybe a hint of green)

I'm loving the whole process, can't wait to make the trip over for a game or two in 2017.

Sooo it seems Sac Republic will play Real Monarchs in Reno at Aces Stadium on June 11th.

That begs the question: do we just go and watch, chant along with TBB, or use our own chants and let ourselves be heard for the first time?

The Reno supporters group should absolutely do the latter. By then the name and colors should be known. So they should be there to support Reno, Reno's USL team, and USL soccer in general.

The curious and casual can do whatever they want. They'll probably sit silently.

Meanwhile, June 11 is so far away. I guess I'll put it on my calendar and see how things shake out.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, just wondering if it would seem weird to cheer for a team not playing. But I already have a few rough drafts for chants that are city-centric.

And yes, you should try to make it. Talk on the twitters is that people are going to make the trip.

    That's an interesting deletion.

Luckily the tweet still shows up on Tweetdeck for me. Here's screenshot ...
