Thanks! I'm amazed we came up with something that good, considering it was "design by committee". Hell I was even on phone conference with the rest of the group when I was out of town for a design meeting. We're definitely proud of this and judging by the fact we're already over 50% funded I think others agree.
Welp, we reached our goal last night in just 24 hours! Still getting pledges! This is huge for the Brigade. Not only do we have amazing scarves on the way but it will definitely help to have a little bit of funding going forward. We still need an air compressor for our train whistle, materials for a first tifo (plus a few two poles and probably a couple more flags), and the means to ship a few drums from Chicago (one of our members was a permanent fixture in Section 8 before moving to Reno). I'm so damn excited for March, but there's still lots to get done. It's all been a labor of love, though.
Reno to host affiliates San Jose Earthquakes February 18th, included in season ticket packages. The sales team has been slammed since the announcement. http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/723405?referrer_id=2424366
Or at least knows how to milk it. Everyone I spoke to who played for him didn't really think he knew how to coach. He probably couldn't do any worse than Frank , Mark or Dom though....
There are quite a few SJ supporters in our ranks and they would agree with the last sentence, especially directed at Dom.
So when does this thread get moved to the big boy page? Or maybe when does the big boy page thread get started?
Thanks for bringing that up 2in10, and thank you SoccerPrime for all that you do. In more Reno news, they have been pushing the February friendly against SJ, and pushing it hard. A preseason sellout would be absolutely amazing. Tomorrow there's going to be an MLS Cup watch party at the stadium. Before the match Battle Born Brigade will be meeting with Reno's chapter of Pancho Villa's Army to get friendly and incorporate them into our ranks. Our main focus has been growing our ranks, but we're also working hard on chants, tifo ideas, etc. BBB's inaugural scarves were ordered last week and should be in within the next two weeks. We sold 55 of them and that leaves us with about two dozen more to sell or give to pub partners and FO members. Things have been going great. But we are just so damn antsy for our first season to start. We've been eagerly waiting for over a year now.
I plan on being there tomorrow at the watch party. I ordered one of the scarves and am looking forward to getting it. I also bought season tickets today! 55 sold already is an excellent start I think. Congrats.
Nice! I thought that might have been you. In the pledge traffic there was one link from BigSoccer. It doesn't hurt to spread it everywhere. I even got two from reddit. See you tomorrow! I don't believe we've met in person yet, or maybe we have inadvertently and not realized it. But hell yeah, getting season tickets! Which section?
I bought the Supporters membership. So that will be behind the west goal if I have the map figured correctly. It looks like I might need to buy tickets at each match?
1868 signs Dane Kelly, USL all-time scoring leader, as their first acquisition. This seems like a great pick up. Definitely somebody who will be familiar with the league. http://www.reno1868fc.com/news_article/show/736000?referrer_id=2942477
Seems to be a nice, aggressive acquisition. Let's see how it goes. It will be interesting to see how many they acquire this week. It sounds as though we should see several announcements before Christmas.
How about three more today! http://www.reno1868fc.com/news_article/show/736513?referrer_id=2942477 Looks like they went after some quality, defensive-minded players
There have been a pretty silly amount of people complaining that they haven't announced any local players. The 1868 social media guy has been responding to all of them but it's kind of ridiculous how passionate they can be about it and not see all of the posts that have been made about the January trials.
The trials should be open to the public, and all those people complaining should show up. Even if it's cold and snowing. Indeed, especially if it's cold and snowing!
I know the preliminary trials (two in Reno, two in Vegas) were open to the public. I can only imagine the final round would be as well. I sincerely hope they would show up in any condition. There are a few who have been downright rude (see image below). I have the feeling the saltiest ones are either trialists or friends of trialists who didn't make the cut for the January invitational.
