And while I have you: NM has placed fan conduct on the schools: https://www.abqjournal.com/1197839/nmaa-has-been-given-ok-to-punish-ill-mannered-behavior.html
I really don't know what cool- aid people are drinking these days but I have a very simple cure for obnoxious/ over privileged/ out of control parents. I dismiss you.
Something happened in Colorado recently, apparently - not sure what. The State Association just put out new misconduct policies for "Misconduct Toward Game Officials" and "Misconduct of Game Officials." They were effective immediately and were e-mailed out Aug 9th. MIsconduct towards officials covers assault, abuse, threats of physical harm, "spewing any beverage on a referee's personal property", spitting, kicking, inflicting damage on personal property - it's a great list of examples.... Misconduct of Game Officials covers misconduct toward another official, participant or spectator, at a match or away from it and alleged conflicts of interest. "Spewing" - sounds like something bad happened somewhere.
It's not that uncommon. It's why if I have my bag at the field I leave it away from fences. Had a parent dump a whole bottle of water into my bag towards the end of a match.
I've been confronted by coaches and/or parents after matches, but it happens extremely rarely. Never have I had anything like this done.
By "not uncommon", I think Geko means "has happened at least twice in the span of the universe, including once to me". I am sure that outrageous stuff has happened to ref bags, just not in my experience, either. Worst that has happened to me was a JV player using my water jug to pound in the spike securing the goal to the ground, as I had instructed. I told him that I thought there was a rule against that. He was mortified. I vowed to keep a better eye on my stuff.
The spewing language is copied from USSF Policy 531-9 "Misconduct Towards Game Officials". Below is an excerpt with the definitions of Referee Assault and Referee Abuse from this policy. Link to the USSF Policies: https://www.ussoccer.com/referees/resource-center/administration
