http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/699004?referrer_id=2424346 On Saturday night in a 4-0 victory against FC Montreal, they continued to make their mark in the USL history books. Add most wins in a USL regular season and most goals, too, to the already claimed records for most points in a season, and most away wins. The Red Bulls II could equal Rochester’s record of 17 shutouts in a season should they come away with a clean sheet next Saturday in their regular-season finale against the Charleston Battery at MUSC Health Stadium. While the defense was strong again against Montreal, however, it was the team’s attack that again took top billing, as it reached 59 goals for the season, surpassing Orlando City SC’s total of 56 set two seasons ago.
Now they have to get it done in the post. Another championship for the development side of the organization would be nice.
so is the USL playing some dirty tricks in connection to the hosting rights of their championship match??? http://www.onceametro.com/2016/9/23...pionship-game-away-from-new-york-red-bulls-ii
BTW, the Baby Bulls won their last game of the season away to Charleston, 2-1. Bezecourt and Allen scored for NY.

All of this success for RBNYII could (emphasis added) bode well (even more than it has) for the senior team before too long...
Aaron Long looked credible as a stand in during the last CCL game. I'm thinking that any one of a half dozen (or more) players from this squad could do the same thing: Meara, Etienne, Metzger, Bilyeu, Adams and Flemings, before he got hurt. I'd Allen, but he is soooo slow that I'm not sure he'll ever be an MLS starter.
This is a mobile team. The need to be able to run hard and press high limits the usefulness of a player like Allen.
He's right up there with another good prospect Jack McBean for most goals scored in USL. Clearly he's doing SOMETHING right. He's also one of "our guys" which is nice. You can't teach speed and athleticism but if he holds this trajectory he'll certainly be able to get his shot as a go to late game offensive sub. Say...when we go from a lone striker to 2. Even if he doesn't work out with us his pedigree and production in USL could make him attractive to teams that play a 2 forward setup. Great regular season for him and a great player to have for so many reasons. Really excited to see if he can be a big game player starting this Sunday.
Well, I think one of the things the club is starting to establish is the idea of a winning culture, healthy locker room and a deep bench. Under those circumstances, comers like him know they have to work for playing time. Lots of other clubs will draft, DRAFT, a player and hold him back for 2-3 seasons to hone his game before letting him be a starter. RBNY couldn't get into that groove because a) they drafted terribly, and 2) they always were trying to stop the bleeding by any means possible. Guys like Eddie Gaven got thrown into the deep end. If Allen can stick it out that 2-3 years, I've no doubt he'll find a role. All I'm saying is that based on how the club plays, he's a bloodhound (good at sniffing out goals) competing for PT against greyhounds. Maybe once the goal gets out of sight, he can get in the game and put that nose to good use. [Apologies for the tortured metaphor.] Yeah, he could be a late game banger. Alan Gordon had a heyday for a couple, three seasons by developing his game along those lines. But, Allen has to exhibit the same degree of patience.
The semifinals will take place this coming weekend, in the East: Red Bulls II host Rochester on Friday Louisville City host Charleston on Saturday In the West: Whitecaps FC 2, the No. 6 seed, will host No. 7 OKC Energy on Saturday Swope Park Rangers will host Orange County on Sunday. The conference finals will be held the weekend of Oct. 14-16 and the USL Cup final will be on Oct. 23.
After dominating so many teams in the regular season, RBII managed to gut out a tough win against the defending champs in the post. Great match.
And a fairytale end to the game with Plewa off the crossbar for the winning PK. Awesome that there were first teamers attending as well.
